Figuring out the perfect proposal was a family affair. Chad went ring shopping with his older brother while his twin and youngest brother helped him come up with the surprise proposal of a lifetime. He had planned to propose on his birthday, but a few days before Christmas he couldn't wait any longer. That day, the doorbell rang, but Nicole wasn't expecting any guests. When she opened the door her best friend, Abby, was there smiling and holding a very very big box. Abby is an over-the-top type of person so Nicole didn't think anything of it except that she was excited to see her and find out what was in the box. As Nicole began opening, there was another box inside the bigger box and then another smaller box inside of that. Each box was wrapped separately and some had gift cards to places like Chipotle and White Castle, which was the location of our first anniversary date where we ironically partook in its "love castle" sit-down restaurant concept for Valentine's Day. Although each of these gifts had special meaning to our relationship, Nicole still didn't notice. Nicole finally got the second-to-last box and found a note that said "Thank you for opening all of these boxes. There's only one left and it's totally sick." It was Chad's handwriting on the card, but Nicole still didn't make the connection. Nicole looked for the last and smallest box. But she didn't see it. That's when she looked up and saw Chad walking toward her. She clasped her hands over her mouth in pure shock and before he could propose, she said, "Are you serious?!" This gift wasn't from Abby she suddenly realized. Chad took a shot of bourbon and placed the glass on the table as if to make a statement, got down on one knee and held out the engagement ring in front of her. Then, he proposed, "Will you marry me?" Looking down at the beautiful diamond ring and gasping with excitement, Nicole said "Oh my god.. yes! YES!" and practically jumped into his arms to embrace him.
