After 12 years together Nelson & Sami got engaged in Zion Utah after spending a couple days glamping in Auto Camp and hiking trails in Zion National Park. After enjoying a couple days of nature and the outdoors they celebrate the engagement in Las Vegas living the city life bar hopping and chasing down every food spot possible.

Sami was born in Illinois and raised in Perrysburg, Ohio. Nelson was born in France, spent his childhood in Kentucky, and has lived in Ohio from his teenage years to the present. The two met during high school in Perrysburg, Ohio. Their relationship began shortly after they encountered each other at a high school event. During the summer, Nelson traveled to France to visit family but maintained constant communication with Sami. They continued their relationship throughout high school. Eventually, Sami's family moved back to Illinois, and Nelson enlisted in the Army, resulting in four years of long-distance relationship between Ohio and Illinois. After completing some college education in Illinois, Sami decided to move back to Ohio to be closer to Nelson and her friends. Despite Nelson being deployed for a year, Sami moved in with Nelson's family. Upon his return, the couple lived together at Nelson's parents' home while they both completed their college education and embarked on their careers. Nelson's first job post-college required him to relocate to Medina, Ohio for a year, causing the couple to endure another period of long-distance relationship. Nevertheless, they purchased a house together in Maumee that same year. Sami resided in Maumee while completing her nursing education, and Nelson commuted 2 ½ hours every weekend to spend time with her. During this period, Nelson and Sami adopted two cats named Hugo and Henry. Nelson had previously been certain that he would never own a pet, but he has since become quite fond of his cats. Sami graduated with her nursing degree, and Nelson secured a position that allowed him to remain in the Toledo area, closer to home. He also completed his contract with the Army and subsequently left the service. Despite all circumstances, Sami and Nelson have consistently prioritized one another and chosen each other. They have shared numerous joyful moments amidst life's events, including travel, time with friends and family, and creating happy memories. After 12 years together their relationship has persisted through different stages of life, such as teenage years, adulthood, high school, college, military service, and several long-distance periods. They are excited to start the next phase of their journey together.
