How We Met

Things Can Change in just Two Days...

Sunday July 5th, 2020 Nellie was ready to meet the man she was meant to spend the rest of her life with. She prayed for sure signs of what to do and how to know it was really him when she met him. There were a lot of signs, and they all pointed to Hinge. She had never heard of it and was not exactly eager to participate in online dating. The more she resisted, the more the signs became more blaring and obvious. On July 5th, 2020, she took the leap and created a profile making sure it showcased her true self. It was also about that day too, that Bryan, who had been on the site with no great success, was about to delete his account! But then he saw that message in his inbox which changed both their lives forever. On Bryan’s profile, Nellie saw this statement: “The world is not flat…lol… but we can debate.” A passion for travel and adventure, she responded: “No, it’s not, lol… but it’s fun trying to reach all it’s corners!” The ensuing conversation carried on progressing to texts then an almost 3-hour conversation where they soon realized, that their connection was something very special. Monday July 6th, 2020 Everything seemed to fall into place perfectly. Bryan had the day off and Nellie – who often worked out of town – was working at a clinic less than a mile from Bryan’s home. He asked to take her to lunch and they agreed to meet at Torchy’s Tacos, which has since become one of their favorite date night locations. It was as if they had known each other forever. The conversation picked right up, each feeling comfortable in the other’s presence as well as an undeniable connection. They may not have acknowledged it then, but they both knew – they had both found “the one!”

The Proposal

A Sunrise, Showers of Blessing, A Rainbow...

Sunday May 30th, 2021 A secret passion of Nellie’s is to watch Sunrises and Sunsets, often taking time-lapse videos. It was something she wanted to share with Bryan on their trip to Hawaii to visit family. Early that morning they drove out to Hālona Blowhole on the East side of O’ahu. There they sat cuddled up in silence with a sprinkling of other people around preparing to watch the sun rise over the beating waves of the ocean. As the time neared for the sun to break the horizon, Nellie got closer to the guard rail to get a better view for the timelapse video. Bryan, having let other opportunities to propose go by, knew in his heart that this was the moment. He quietly asked a nice lady to record what was about to happen using his phone. He then confidently walked over to where Nellie was recording with her back to everyone and got down on his left knee. “Babe” he said… when Nellie turned around and saw him, she was equal parts shocked and overjoyed, realizing what was happening. He professed his love for her and asked her to be his wife. Without hesitation, she said yes! As they embraced and kissed, a light rain began to fall on them as the sun rose above the horizon, and the most perfectly arced rainbow was cast in the sky. Those signs she had prayed for could not have been more obvious. It was absolute perfection. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Honolulu!
