Hard Times Cafe
We went to Hard Times Café for our first date! Who doesn't love a good bowl of chili? Hard Times Café has four delicious chili recipes, as well as wings and burgers, among other bar favorites. Dine-in with western saloon themed décor just a few minutes drive from the hotel in Rockville's Historic West End. It has also been a Caulfield family tradition to eat at this establishment whenever there was a birthday in the family, a holiday, or weekend where everyone was home. The food and staff have always been outstanding at this location, and it's one of our go-to spots to take friends from out of town.
Silver Diner
Silver Diner offers a wide selection of excellent health-conscious dishes, while still serving milkshakes and some diner classics. We have come here many times for late-night dates or when we don't know what we want to eat yet but know that we are hungry! Silver Diner is open until 2 AM on the weekends, making it a great spot for late-night eats! It's possible to walk there from the hotel via sidewalk, but it is close to a mile away. Uber/Lyft activity in the area is pretty high, so riding round-trip is probably the better option.
Clyde's Tower Oaks Lodge
For a more upscale bar experience, Clyde's Tower Oaks Lodge is a great option near the hotel! They offer everything from hamburgers and wings, to more premium dishes including steaks and seafood. Their Tower Oaks location has a large bar and multiple indoor and outdoor dining areas, all with a cozy mountain lodge atmosphere.
Iron Age Korean BBQ
All you can eat Korean BBQ cooked right at your table! If you are looking for a good upbeat place to eat with a group of 4-6, this is an excellent place to eat. We have many memories enjoying great times with friends here including birthdays. The Hawaiian beef bulgogi is unlike anything else in the area! Please note: The wait time for this establishment is usually at least an hour during peak dining hours, so be sure to plan accordingly. They unfortunately do not take reservations ahead of time, so you will have to go in-person to get a spot in line. They will text you when the table is ready, allowing you to explore nearby stores.
Bethesda Crab House
Want the coastal Maryland crab and seafood experience but don't want to drive to the Eastern Shore? Bethesda Crab House has you covered! Since 1961, this crab house has retained the classic look of a Maryland seafood restaurant, complete with nautical décor. Located right on the edge of beautiful walkable downtown Bethesda, dine indoors or outdoors!
Tastee Diner
An excellent local diner franchise with diner classics, right in the heart of walkable downtown Bethesda since 1935! The diner used to be open 24 hours a day, making it a great for late-night eats. As of writing this, they currently close at 10 PM and reopen at 6 PM.
&pizza
Just a quick walk from the hotel, this local counter-order DC pizza franchise offers excellent personal pizzas and craft sodas. Reasonably priced for a quick lunch by yourself or with a group!
Kung Fu Tea
This bubble tea establishment is walking distance from the hotel, and they are usually open late. A great place for a late night treat!
