One of our favorite places to visit and explore all the hidden doors and rooms. Look for the following rooms: The Beatles, Elvis, and Rosa Parks.
Our favorite modern art museum has a great exhibit during our wedding: One with Eternity: Yayoi Kusama in the Hirshhorn Collection. Free timed tickets are given out at 9:30 a.m. each day.
For beautiful hikes in our area, check out Great Falls on the Maryland side. The Billy Goat trail is rocky, but fun. (Neil broke his foot there in March!). There are easier trails along the canal and free bikes to rent, or bring your own. You can park near Old Angler Inn, walk along the canal and finish with drinks or food at the Inn. On the Virginia side, Riverbend and Scott's Run have relatively easy trails.
Recently rebuilt, this is a great way to spend the day learning how to be a real life spy or a not so-real James Bond.
If you are into live music and are staying in town until Monday, one of our favorite venues is the Birchmere, a sit down supper club. On Sunday June 26th they are doing the following show: THE MUSIC OF CREAM featuring WILL JOHNS & KOFI BAKER Performing Disraeli Gears & Clapton Classics
Our favorite place for outdoor shows on the lawn or seated in the Summer. On Sunday June 26th, Steely Dan is performing there.
Another great outdoor summer venue Stacey and I have seen many shows at. Jack Johnson is performing there the night before our wedding, June 24th
A beautiful spot on the water in D.C. with great restaurants, bars and shops. Del Mar, Moon Rabbit, and Hank's Oyster Bar are all great.
One of the newer museums on the National Mall downtown. Stacey and I spent a whole day here and only saw about 1/3 of the collection.
For the first time in decades, anyone can see the inside of the Mormon Temple in Washington, DC and take a free tour. Advance reservations are required. Stacey, her Mom and I recently went on the tour and it was very interesting and the temple is beautiful.
