Another cool spot close by is the Cabazon Dinosaurs! They have made an appearance in a few movies (National Lampoon’s Vacation and Pee Week’s Big Adventure), they are just a random desert roadside attraction that makes for some fun photos!
This is a really cool trail spot! The only native palm trees in California! And the trail is almost entirely shaded thanks to the densely packed king palms so it makes for a generally cooler hike than most and fairly easy. 10/10 recommend checking out Indian Canyon!
Pretty much every celebrity has, or had, a vacation home here (Bing Crosby, Elvis Presley, Liberace, Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, to name a few!) and you can find most of them with a quick google search. Stay in the car enjoying the AC and drive around checking out your fav celebs vacation spot!
The weirdest, trendiest, stinkiest, most random place I’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing. It’s about an hour away from everything and not convenient by any means but it was pretty neat. If you’re down with 110°+ and the smell of a hot litter litter box then this trip for a quick pic is the spot for you. You’ll pass Salton Sea on your way there and that’s a pretty cool spot too. Smells even worse though, but will make you feel like you’re in a post-apocalyptic world and will feel unlike any place you’ve ever been.
This place is weird. In a cool way. Not literally cool, actually I think it’s the hottest place on earth, and it smells very strongly of chemicals. Probably why this place was abandoned. But it is so eerie cool! It’ll make you feel like you’re in a post-apocalyptic movie and there are tons of odd desert art instillations to check out while you’re there. This is a fun and unique place to visit and makes for telling interesting stories!
