Some information on flights and transportation below. For further details (including accommodation options), please check out the FAQs.

Flight

San Diego International Airport or Tijuana International Airport

We recommend to fly into Tijuana, budgets and timing permitted. Crossing the border from San Diego is easiest done by foot or car, which some guests may not prefer - especially as car crossings can take up to 2 hours, depending on traffic.

Rental Car

Airport rentals

We recommend that you rent a car, as that gives you the best, most flexible options to explore the area and the amazing vineyards in the Valle de Guadalupe. It may be easiest to rent a car at your airport of arrival (we usually use kayak.com to find reasonable rates). That being said, rentals in Mexico will be cheaper.

Travel Note

Alternative transportation options

If you choose to fly into San Diego and not rent a car, there are a number of options to get to Ensenada. The fastest option is to cross the border by foot. Take either an Uber or catch the San Diego trolley (blue line) to the pedestrian border crossing at Otay or San Ysidro. They will drop you off right before the border patrol, and you cross by foot fairly quickly and seamlessly. Once you cross onto the MX side, there are buses that cost $12 USD and take you straight to Ensenada (90 minute drive). Alternatively, you can use the cross border express (CBX) shuttle from downtown San Diego within 4 hours of your arrival into San Diego. Please note that it will drop you off at the Tijuana Airport, but you can then rent a car from there.
