FAQs

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

Between 3:00- 3:30 PM. The ceremony will kick-off at 4:00 PM. Cake and bubbles to follow before our progressive dinner begins.

Question

What is a progressive dinner?

Answer

Most importantly to note: you will not go hungry, nor will you thirst for a beverage. A progressive dinner consists of food flowing throughout the night. Instead of a formal sit down dinner where you fill your plate once, and maybe twice if you're lucky; we're going to have food stations and food being served "progressively" through the night. The bars will be open. The drinks will flow, the food will be ever-changing and there will be no shortage. But what about the kids? Don't worry, we've got them. They'll get a more kid-friendly meal earlier in the day so we can hopefully avoid hanger and make sure they're taken care. Plus, we'll have a special mocktail and kid friendly drinks. What can we look forward to eating? The good stuff. Victoria and her team have a phenomenal night planned. As a sneak peak: expect to eat cake, sweets, the Jacobson's famous pizza, meat as requested by Kevin, our family favourite recipes, and plenty of mouthwatering choices. The drink's won't be dull and the food will delight, this is a Brie Jacobson party, I assure, it'll be a good night. * as noted above, please let us know about any food allergies!

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Absolutely! No one rips up a dance floor better than a kid. We're hoping to have some extra set of hands around to ensure the kids all have a ton of fun, don't get into too much trouble, and can intermingle with the whole party. We will be hosting a party for Juniper's 12th birthday on the Sunday (August 9). We would love if you and your kids could join (child-free adults always welcome) for some fun. If you're hoping to have a kid-free weekend or night, that sounds great too. We're excited to celebrate with you all! Whichever choice you opt for, please let us know when RSVPing, or send Brie and Kevin an email at: naylorfamco@gmail.com so we can ensure we have enough kid friendly options.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Of course. Please let us know what requests you have and we'll do our best to accommodate.

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

Absolutely! We have invited you to celebrate because we want to spend time with you! Please look to the "schedule" page to see and RSVP to various events over the course of the weekend. Join us for what you can and let the festivities begin! If you're in town before or after the weekend festivities, we would love to visit and show you around our beautiful home on Vancouver Island.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

I have this dream of all of our loved ones wearing their best, brightest, chicest, and most joyful outfits (emphasis on fun/joyful); but I also want to acknowledge that it will be August, summer is hot, there are stairs between the backyard + house, and you really do not need to go out and buy a new outfit. So, we're politely requesting you wear what you feel comfortable in- if that happens to be a nice suit, ruffled gown, chic floral or sequin dress, or something that really looks and feels great in contrast to the summer skies and garden flowers then consider it a bonus. The brief is colourful fun- but really, truly, YOU and your presence are what matters most to us.

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

The Sooke Pointe Ocean Cottages are a 400 metre walk from our front door. It is our every day dog walk route so it is more than comfortably stumbling distance. Guests can contact our Sooke Point Ocean Cottage Resort at Toll-Free: 1-844-642-2635 (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM) and provide the group block name and below code for making the reservations. Naylor2 – for 2-night stays only Naylor3 – for 3-night or longer stays AirBNB and VRBO's are along the road in. If you have a larger group, this may be the way to go for proximity to our house as the party is located at the very end of a long-Indiana-Jones-ride-provoking drive. There are tons of great hotels in Victoria (50-60 minute drive from our East Sooke home) Langford is a 25-35 minute drive away. Sooke is a 25-30 minute drive away.

Question

I want to stay at the Sooke Pointe Cottages; how do I book?

Answer

Guests can contact our Sooke Point Ocean Cottage Resort at Toll-Free: 1-844-642-2635 (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM) and provide the group block name and below code for making the reservations. Naylor2 – for 2-night stays only Naylor3 – for 3-night or longer stays The more you stay, the less you pay.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Parking is limited. We'll do our best to secure the road and parking but our house is located directly beside the East Sooke Park entrance and it is often full of hikers and scuba divers. Towing is unlikely. For those looking to camp or stay in their cars, we'll make sure there is space along our road for you. As stated above, we'll block off the road for our guests. Come early if you're looking to secure you're spot.

Question

Can we crash at the house or camp on the road?

Answer

Beds are fully claimed in the main house; BUT, the road is available for car campers; AND, if you bring your own sleep supplies, you're welcome to crash on the dance floor in the rec room, or wherever you may fall. There could even be room for some tents with prior planning. Breakfast will be waiting for you in the morning; However, I am not promising a restful sleep. Let's be real- the goal if you're looking to extend the party, is to laugh, dance, and have a good time either way. Please let Brie, Kevin or Tracy know if you're planning to stay over night. If it happens to be a gametime decision; that's okay too. We'd rather everyone be safe at the house than take any risks. Your safety is important to all of us.

Question

How about the ferries and airports?

Answer

Tsawwassen is your main point of entry from the mainland (Vancouver). Your destination is Swartz Bay (Victoria). Swartz Bay is a 55- 90 minute drive from our house depending on how you hit traffic. During the busy season of summer, we highly recommend booking a reservation ahead of your sailings to take advantage of BC Ferries Saver Fares. https://www.bcferries.com/ Victoria International Airport is a 50-85 minute drive depending on traffic. It's a great hub to fly into. Vancouver and Seattle are the nearest large airports if you're looking for an inexpensive route in; however, YYJ is the fastest airport nearby EXCLUDING harbour air.

Question

*If you're hanging about in the day's after the wedding, and you're interested in some fishing...

Answer

Please reach out to Brie, Tracy or Robert if you're thinking of sticking around for the days after the wedding. We will likely have our boat and possibly Kevin's for some fishing out front. For those interested in being out on the water, we'll figure it out. There are plenty of hiking trails and beaches right outside of our house so we can all easily navigate taking shifts for various adventures- or, a margarita or two.
