Church of Santiago is a romanesque church, from the Compostela School of the 12th century, located in the center of the Old City. It is considered the oldest temple in A Coruña. It has pointed elements from the 14th and 15th centuries and reconstructions from various periods due to having suffered several fires. The main doorway has a pointed rose window from the end of the 14th century and the tympanum with Santiago Apóstol. On the north doorway, there is the tympanum with the "Agnus Dei". Inside there are ancient tombs and a stone pulpit from the 17th century. Interesting Roman altars are preserved. The images of the Virgin and Child, the Virgin of the Milk and Santiago Apóstol stand out. In the 14th century, the city council met in the atrium and in one of its towers (currently only the bell tower remains) the gunpowder was kept for the defense of the square. It was originally dedicated to pilgrims who came to Compostela by sea.
