Weather in Colorado is unpredictable at times, but we are hoping for the best! We are expecting it to to be low 80s/high 70s and sunny during the day and mid 40s at night. We will be up on a hill where it may be windy, so please bring layers. In case of rain there is an indoor plan for the ceremony. Colorado gets 300+ days of sunshine a year, and we also get blizzards in May, so best to be prepared for all scenarios.
You should be fine! Be sure to stay hydrated, pack some Advil/aspirin in case. You may feel a bit more winded than normal climbing two flights of stairs or walking up an incline, but that's pretty normal. Alcohol definitely has more of an effect, so cool it on the shots, guys. If you hit up the gym, don't expect your cardio game to be on point. We still definitely recommend going on a easy hike (see Things To Do tab for the Google Map) and taking in the mountain views!
This is not a question. Drink lots of water! This will help with elevation and with the dry mountain air. Boulder tap water is safe and excellent for drinking. Chapstick and eyedrops are also a great plan.
We are going with "casual cocktail attire." We want you to look awesome and feel pretty, and also be ready to boogie on the dance floor!
Ladies, no need to worry about heels sinking into grass. There is some walking from the parking lot, and a brief walk from the ceremony to the reception - plus all the dancing! - so a backup pair of comfortable shoes is recommended.
While beer, wine, and champagne will be free-flowing, the venue does not allow for hard liquor. Yvonne loves her bougie cocktails so this is deeply upsetting - this emphasizes the significance of the venue to us. But don't worry, we still have a few tricks up our sleeves, and we will also make up for it at the after party!
When invitations are sent out in late Spring/early Summer, we will ask guests to RSVP to each event on this website. Stay tuned! In the meantime, please book your travel plans and ask us any questions.
Yes! There will be a spot to include their name(s) and age(s) in the RSVP form.
Let us know what kind of child care services you're looking for and for when! Even for some time other than our wedding, you may just want a date night out. We can ask around our friends with kids who probably know some people and we will report back.
The address to the Mesa Lab South Boulder location is: 1850 Table Mesa Drive. If you are driving, go west on Table Mesa and then... don't stop. We recommended calling a taxi, Lyft, or Uber, since we want to our guests to have the most fun possible. We will be providing a bus shuttle service at the end of the night from NCAR to the Boulder Marriott and the after party!
The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) is a US federally funded research and development center managed by the nonprofit University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) and funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Studies include meteorology, climate science, atmospheric chemistry, solar-terrestrial interactions, environmental and societal impacts. The NCAR Mesa Laboratory was designed by acclaimed architect I. M. Pei, his first major recognition designed in 1961 and completed in 1967. He then went to design the John F. Kennedy Library in Massachusetts, the Bank of China Tower in Hong Kong, the Louvre Pyramid of Paris, the Miho Museum in Japan, and the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, among many other notable accomplishments. (Thanks, Wikipedia!)
Yvonne's father worked there for decades, retiring in 2012. While NCAR is visible from almost anywhere in Boulder, we are lucky that it is right in the backyard of our South Boulder home where Dr. Lee would hike to work and back. We all should aspire to this level of fitness. Couples take wedding photos outside at the NCAR trails for the beautiful mountain scene, but the use of the facilities for weddings is limited only to employees and their immediate families. We decided to take advantage of this exclusive access!
In the Things To Do tab, click on the link to the Google Map. This is a compiled list of our recommendations for Boulder and other spots in Colorado. If you have other things in mind or have questions on anything else, please let us know and we will do our best to suggest more amazing things to do and see!
Please let us know and for the wedding we will work with the venue to accommodate anyone with mobility concerns. There is a separate entrance to avoid stairs and we will make arrangements in advance to make sure that you are taken care of.
We have both accumulated a lot of stuff over the years, the best gift we could ask for is to see our friends and family!
Please feel free to reach out to both of us about more things to do and see in Boulder or other parts of Colorado, concerns about travel plans and logistics, and any other wedding/not wedding questions. We want to make sure you have a wonderful trip! Yvonne: yovonne@gmail.com Navin: navin.kkumar@gmail.com
