In our separate lives and separate states, we were separately nominated to go to a week long work training in New York. Of the various dates we could've chosen, we both happened to pick the same week in October. As two of the very few single people at the training, our classmates encouraged us throughout the week to get to know one another. Thinking we knew better of a long distance, inner company romance, we both separately tried to avoid contact for the week. The last night of training always brings with it a few extra drinks, and with their help we finally caved! The conversation hasn't stopped since and we couldn't be more thankful!

On what was supposed to be a rainy and cold Memorial Day weekend we made the five hour trek to South Haven, Michigan. I reluctantly took the ring and was convinced the proposal wouldn't happen as planned. Saturday arrived with wind and rain as forecasted but, in true west Michigan fashion, it turned sunny by mid afternoon! The plan was back on! With the company of some friends, we headed to the pier. At sunset, with an American flag and sail boats in the background, I popped the question! Luckily I didn't drop the ring in the lake and she said YES!
