Nathaniel and Kemaea’s story began a little like this… July 2018 It all started with a random FaceTime in July. Just as Mae was about to fall asleep, her phone lit up with a call from an unknown number. She almost didn’t answer but thought it might be important. A big smile filled the camera from a face she did not know. He said his name was Will and that he was a new Omega at CSUB (Bakersfield) looking to meet the new Zetas from Fresno State. He introduced each of his line brothers, and one of them was Nate. Mae casually admitted Nate was cute by accident (or maybe it was on purpose), and by the end of the call, Nate asked for her information. Their friendship grew slowly, filled with laughter and hour-long talks over the next few months. September 2018 One day, after getting to know each other well on the phone, Nate asked if Mae wanted to go on a date. Mae was eager to get out of Fresno and agreed to meet him in Bakersfield (a city not much different from Fresno lol). On September 30th, they had their first date at Studio Movie Grill, the date was perfect for both of them, and neither wanted it to end. Mae was so nervous that she doesn’t remember what the movie was about (only that it was scary) or even what she ordered. Nate, however, always says he knew Mae would be his wife that very first night. In December, Nate planned her a surprise birthday trip to Six Flags, a tradition he has kept since that first birthday. One roller coaster and a “headache” from Mae later, they spent the night laughing and enjoying each other’s company at Red Lobster instead of staying at the park. That day set the tone for a relationship built on patience, friendship, and ease. February 2019 On February 1st, Nate officially asked Mae to be his girlfriend. They were 21 years old. Despite the 2-hour distance between their college campuses, their bond continued to grow stronger. They made time for dates, traveling with friends, visiting loved ones together, studying, and pursuing any random new adventure they could find. After getting their passports together, they’ve visited Mexico, Jamaica, and now they are getting ready for their honeymoon to Bali, Indonesia. August 2024 On August 9, 2024, after asking her family for her hand in marriage, Nate proposed to Mae during a private weekend at a gorgeous resort in Palm Springs. He knows how much she enjoys taking late-night walks together so he made it the best walk they would ever take. They spent the evening lakeside under the night sky for hours before contacting all their loved ones to share the news. Present The process of becoming one has been very special to them. They have been extremely intentional during their engagement to learn how to build a solid foundation together with the Lord at the center. Attending premarital counseling sessions with their officiant and his wife has been one of the most meaningful parts of this entire year. For them, becoming one and bringing their families together means the world. That’s why they are excitedly counting down the days to February 1, 2026, when they will walk the aisle and become one under God, surrounded by their favorite people.
