Train
30th street station serves Amtrak and is a central location in the city. A 10 minute taxi or short metro from the three hotels we selected in Center City, Philadelphia. If you are coming from DC or NYC then we highly recommend Amtrak.
Flight
Philadelphia International airport is ~25 minutes from Center City, Philadelphia without traffic. You can take a ride share that will probably cost between $30-100 OR you can take a short commuter train to 30th street and then a connecting metro or ride share to Center City.
Flight
About 1.5 hrs from Center City Philadelphia (hotels located here) without traffic. No easy train options. We don't recommend flying here unless you're flying internationally. If you fly to Newark then we recommend renting a car. An expensive ride share is another option. The train system isn't convenient but you could make your way to the Newark, NJ train station and take the commuter train to 30th St. station.
Travel Note
We do not recommend a car rental to get around Philadelphia for most guests. Parking is difficult/expensive and driving in Philadelphia is not fun. Walking, ride shares, and the local metro are better options for most guests.
Travel Note
Philadelphia is a wonderful city that we love very much and many areas are safe to enjoy. Having said that, please be cautious to protect yourself and your belongings. If you have a vehicle, please make sure you do not leave anything visible when parking on the street or in a garage. Public transit (buses/trains) are safe to use. Walking in the neighborhoods in and around Center City is very safe during daylight. Exercise increased caution at night and consider an Uber or Lyft if you aren't certain or ever feel uncomfortable. Here's a list of neighborhoods that are well-trafficked, safe, and enjoyable (Center City and all the neighborhoods between Washington Ave and the Vine Street Expressway, University City, Fishtown, Northern Liberties, Passyunk, Manayunk).
