Best Man
Andrew is my brother. We have shared so many memories together and he has been there for me every step of the way in my life's journey. Just one call away; the person I vent to. We are kindred souls. If we are together enjoyment is bound to follow. Life has made my brother wise and he is pool of knowledge to drink from. He has guided my growth and I can say my journey into manhood is part his doing. Andrew is a kind-hearted and fun-loving sibling that I am not also proud to call my brother but a true friend.
Maid of Honor
I remember the first day I saw Aster at work, she came in with this lovely dress and some heels. I thought to myself, who is this one, all dressed up? (of course in my African voice). A few days later, a now mutual friend of ours introduced us to one another stating "You two will make great friends." Well, let's just say I am glad I didn't shy away from the introduction. We became closer while riding the train daily together, having lunch dates and hanging outside of work casually. One of my funniest memories was when we both signed up to do karaoke after a few glasses of wine. Thanks to our friend Carlos, who withdrew our names, as we didn't embarrass ourselves. His exact words were, "Y'all ain't about to make me look stupid." Aster and I have great conversations, from our faith in God, future plans, life values, family and of course about guys. Aster has shown me the true meaning of friendship; she has proven to be reliable and someone who takes pride in accountability. We encourage each other when life isn't going as we have planned but one thing I admire about Aster is how she reminds me to always trust in God.
Best Man
One of my first cousins from my Mom's sister. Emile is the personification of life of the party. It is always a good time to have him around. We have many in-depth discussions about personal growth and relationship dynamics. It is truly a blessing to have first hand experience seeing where my Cousin has come from to the man he is today. I love Emile like a brother and look forward to cutting up that dance floor with him on the day of my wedding. Also, He claims he changed my diapers when I was a baby but there is no proof nor has anyone corroborated this story.
Bridesmaid
Malaika is my dearest sister. She is such an amazing being and very supportive. It is best not to mess with me because it is Malaika you will have to deal with. Do we bump heads? Yes! But the love we have for each other is unbreakable. Malaika is kind, caring, selfless; she loves whole-heartedly. Her hugs are so tight yet gentle; be aware, as you have been warned. Malaika is a social butterfly as she enjoys meaningful conversations. She lights up the room not only with her infectious smile but also with joy, love and her spirit. Malaika and I have shared so many adorable memories together. She has been with me through all of my life's moments. She is a big sister that any one would adore in their life.
Best Man
One of the first people I met at school when I came back to live in New Jersey. Phi and I spent plenty of time together playing video games to sharing our love for the many cuisines of the world. If it wasn't for the venue already having catering I would trust him to make all the food for the wedding. Phi is the reliable friend anyone could hope for.
Bridesmaid
Ida is kind, supportive, dependable and thoughtful. When I first met Ida, she was a bit reserved but gradually warmed up to me. Ida and I have shared some beautiful memories together, most of which is me getting caught acting a bit silly. I am looking forward to creating lots of memories with her. Having Ida as my sister-in-law will truly be a blessing as she has proven to be someone I can count on, through words and actions. Oh yeah, she knows how to have a good time, wink wink.
Best Man
I met Robert when he was introduced to the class in 6th grade. His mean mug would have convinced you he was a no nonsense kind of person but hidden behind that stern look is a man who has a lot to smile about. It was a surprise to see he shared my love of anime. We have had plenty of deep conversations talking about life and goals. Robert is the one that taught me the meaning of being myself since he always championed me to others about how great of a friend he had. He is the great friend and glad he can be part of my special day.
Bridesmaid
Savior is a friend we all need - one of a kind. She is someone who always has an encouraging word to uplift another spirit despite what she maybe going through. As she always says, I am just a phone call away Munah. A life's lesson I have learned from our friendship is that kindness pays off. I remembered when Nate and I first saw Savior after the engagement, she said, “I don’t care what you say, we will redo the engagement, I want to take your pictures." We didn't reenact the engagement but she stood by her words and took more pictures of us than we could have asked for. Savior has been so helpful, from capturing memorable moments at our bridal brunches to constantly checking on me. She is all around amazing. Libra Gang.
Best Man
Ryan and me share a very unique relationship. If it is not us laughing at each other's inappropriate jokes it is us sharing our love of the many beers we tried. I met Ryan in pre-engineering. He seemed quiet and all but that didn't last long. He and one of my classmates would get into so much shenanigans. Over the time of working together on different projects we gained a mutual respect for one another. Even after both of us went off to college we kept in touch. Ryan is one of the first ones I would call for an adventure and his response is always, what time and do you want me to bring anything. He is one of a kind.
Bridesmaid
Gwen became a family friend few years back and we have worked as a team to build our friendship to what it is now. Although she is a few years younger than I, she inspires me to grow and be my better self. She is one of the sweetest, most respectful individual one could ever meet. Gwen is very academically-driven and ambitious, she would go MIA when she needs to, to focus on her goals. But she is one of the few people who would always reach out to check on me.
Best Man
Miguel was my first roommate in college. Getting through undergrad wasn't easy but having an intelligent friend is like a cheat code. We share a lot of core values and as the friend he is he welcomed me into his home 4th of July weekend. He wanted to make sure I wasn't spending July 4th weekend alone since I was in NC State doing an internship. We had so many jokes and laughs over the years, and Miguel's laugh is one that can't be mistaken. He is the one I go to when I want to talk about politics, anything Legal...just any hot button topics in general. I'm happy to call Miguel a friend.
Bridesmaid
I have known Patt for few years and she has been a reliable friend. Two things I admire most about Patt is her love for Christ and family. She is one of those souls that blends well with any other group of friends. I remember calling Patt and asking her to become one of the bridesmaids and her response was, “sis I’ve been waiting for this call, and I am so happy for you.” I am so excited to have her stand by me on my special day. Fun fact, don’t be surprised to see her on the dance floor all night as she loves to dance.
Best Man
Will and I have gone through so much together. One thing about our bond is we would always hold each other accountable. We tell each other about ourselves. He has probably had one of the greatest affects into the growth of who I am today. He has fed me courage, been a road dog and continues to empower my growth into the man I am becoming. We spent hours talking about the way God has shown up for us. We have explored cities together and enjoyed plenty of parties that we didn't want to go to. I know we have so many more conversations and adventures to go on and I am looking forward to seeing where our journey takes us.
Bridesmaid
I have known Lorpu for a few years and we have had some good times together. Lorpu is all about having a good time. She is reliable and if you want some laughter or fun, count on her to do just that. There are two things I admire most about Lorpu - her self-confidence and being a go-getter. She is extremely competitive and loves to debate. I remembered being with Lorpu at a skating ring, this being her first time, she was so determined to learn how to skate. After few falls, she was willing to get a professional help. This shows how competitive she is because her goal was to become better for the next time at the skating ring. I have no doubt she’ll be one of the first ones on the dance floor at the wedding.
Best Man
Me meeting Tobi is a true example of how small the world is. Tobi lived in my hometown and went to the same Middle School as me but we didn't interact until I needed help for Physics during my freshman year. Tobi the laid back genius is just a solid soul. He knows how to have a good time despite his reserved demeanor. He can make you laugh with just the look on his face; this guy does not hide how he is feeling. Don't say nothing dumb around him less you feel it twice as much by seeing his reaction. If you are looking for an unbiased opinion go to Tobi. He likes to tell it how he sees it, even if it doesn't work in your favor. That is someone who is not looking for you to stay stagnant but pushing you to grow.
Bridesmaid
Corvah has such a warm, beautiful, and welcoming spirit. She comes off as shy but while getting closer to her over the years, it has been easy. Her energy is like a free flow wave on a warm summer night. Corvah is fun to be around and has shown to be a dependable friend. One thing I admire most about Corvah is how much she values the importance of family. Corvah is the sparkle that every wedding party needs. To say the least, she is a breath of fresh air. I am so delighted to have her share this day with me. Libra Gang.
