North Carolina Museum of Art
One of Raleigh’s most beloved indoor–outdoor attractions, the North Carolina Museum of Art features two buildings with galleries, rotating exhibitions, and educational spaces. Its 164-acre park—the largest art park in the country—offers walking trails, outdoor installations, and an amphitheater for concerts and movie nights (closed for construction in 2026). The permanent collection includes ancient Egyptian artifacts, European masterpieces, African and Judaic art, and contemporary works. The West Building also houses the Southeast’s largest collection of Auguste Rodin sculptures, along with the museum store and NCMA Café.
North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences
The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences welcomes nearly a million visitors each year with engaging permanent and rotating exhibits exploring the natural world. The museum spans four floors across two connected buildings: the Nature Exploration Center—home to the iconic “Terror of the South”—and the striking Nature Research Center. In addition to exhibits, the museum offers lectures, workshops, live demonstrations, and hands-on programs for all ages. Guests can enjoy educational films inside the SECU Daily Planet, a 70-foot globe that doubles as a three-story theater, or watch immersive features in the WRAL 3D Theater.
Pullen Park
Established in 1887 as North Carolina’s first public park, Pullen Park sits between downtown Raleigh and NC State’s campus. One of the world’s oldest amusement parks, it’s known for its classic, family-friendly charm. Highlights include a restored 1911 carousel, a miniature train, pedal boats on Lake Howell, and amenities like tennis courts, ballfields, an arts center, and Theatre In The Park.
