How We Met

The Bride's Perspective

I met Nate on August 26th, 2024. He had just started coming to my church and was looking for a small group. Conveniently, I was a brand-new small group leader in need of members. He came up to my table, and we spoke briefly—and by briefly, I mean so briefly that Nate doesn’t even remember the conversation. As we started seeing each other on a more consistent basis, I still didn’t think much of him (in my defense, I was focused on leading the group… obviously). But over time, two things became clear: he really loved the Lord, and yes—he was kind of cute. In early May, he finally worked up the courage to ask me out. We went on our first date, and the rest was history.

How We Met

The Groom's Perspective

I first saw Melodie in late July of 2024 singing on the worship team at Summit, the church I had just started attending. My immediate thought was, "wow... she's beautiful." Then I joined a small group and found out she was one of the leaders. Naturally, I assumed she was completely out of my league and didn't think much beyond that. In February of 2025, I helped her move into a new apartment with a few other people from church. We had to drive about an hour to pick up a couch, and somehow the whole ride turned into just us having our own conversation while everyone else sat in the back (or at least that's how it felt to me). That was the moment I thought, "okay... maybe I've got more of a shot than I think". After that, I decided to test the waters and started putting myself in situations where I'd be around her. I went to church volleyball and strategically positioned myself on her team, even though I am terrible at volleyball. I showed up to a work-from-home day she hosted at her apartment, even though I worked in-office five days a week (yes, I used PTO just to see her). Eventually, once I realized I'd regret not trying, I finally asked her out. From our first date, it just felt easy. We clicked right away, and the rest was history.
