How We Met

The Night Our Path's Crossed

On the night of March 6, 2014, we both were performing in the Dripping Springs Talent Show. It was our Senior year of high school, and our acts were back to back. After exchanging glances, we got to talking in the wing of the stage after our performances. I (Chandler) hit Nathan with the line "So not only are you cute, but you can sing and play the guitar?"... and the rest is history!

Proposal Story

How It All Went Down

NJ: In July 2020, we decided to take an impromptu trip to see Chan's Gammie and Grandpa in Santa Fe, NM. I brought the ring along in case an opportunity presented itself, but didn't want it to be too planned. When the moment came along, I knew. On July 12, we went on a hike with a good friend outside of Albuquerque, NM. CG: I had ZERO idea a proposal was underway, as this entire trip was very spontaneous let alone the hike (planned the evening before). NJ: Every step we made up the mountain my heart was beating faster and faster. The difficulty level of the South Sandia Peak (10,000 ft in elevation) and the nerves were definitely getting to me. I just hoped we made it up to the top and nobody got injured. CG: At the time, I was wondering why he seemed more out of breath than usual. lol NJ: We finally reached the top! Chandler looked out at the view while my heart was beating out of my chest as I knew of the moment that was fast approaching that would change our lives forever. CG: I wanted to get a photo on this cliff edge (not the safest decision looking back lol), but the backdrop was too incredible to resist. The photographer in me was dying to get that shot. I asked Nathan to come take a picture with me, and he nervously laugh as he replied, "Really? Down there? Okayyy." NJ: I was just thinking to myself, "Please don't step too far back when you get down on a knee." CG: Our friend took several photos of us, and I was content with the shots we got. As I began to walk away, Nathan reached for my hand and pulled me back. In that moment, I found him on one knee with a ring box in hand. I was in total shock. My exact first words were: "What are you doing?" NJ: I then asked, "Will you marry me?" CG: I felt tears well up in my eyes as I said, "yes" and hugged him tight. It was such a special moment and an absolutely beautiful place. I'll cherish that memory forever.
