Our first date was at a frozen yogurt place and a walk around Gallup Park in Ann Arbor. Remo brought a cooler with him full of drinks and snacks, which at first Nathaly thought was really lame. Like who brings a cooler full of peanut butter crackers and vitamin water on the first date? In hindsight, she realized this was probably the beginning of all the thoughtful (and practical) gestures from him.

Proposing to Nathaly was in the works for some months but every time there would be a setback. I wanted to propose to her on Belle Isle where we had our first kiss. We visit the island frequently so randomly going for a trip was not out of the ordinary. I would also tease her by getting down on one knee to tie my shoe. I finally proposed to her in the William Clay Ford pilot house at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum. I knew this would be the perfect spot because it’s her favorite place on the island. When I finally asked for real, she was so surprised she almost bopped me in the head with a pen!
