They met in undergrad of College. Nathalie worked in the Veteran's Office and Cesar was visiting the office to straighten out his military education benefits. They got to know each other over the course of a month through conversing and sharing longing glances. One day, Nathalie shared to the entire office that she won free drinks at a bar and asked who wanted to join her. Cesar jumped up enthusiastically and shouted that he wanted to go. So, Nathalie and Cesar, along with some other veterans who were in the office at the time went to the bar, including one of Nathalie's best friends Samantha. Everyone was having a good time. Cesar purposefully sat next to Nathalie. At one point during the night, Nathalie went to the bathroom. Cesar longingly watched as she walked away. Samantha, being the great friend that she is, noticed and advised Cesar to follow Nathalie. Cesar decided to trust Samantha and followed Nathalie to the bathroom, who at that point had finished and was about to head back to the group. Nathalie saw Cesar approach the bathrooms and noticed he had an expression on his face that can only be described as determined. Nathalie stopped Cesar and asked him if he was alright. Instead of answering, Cesar looked into Nathalie's eyes and kissed her so deeply and passionately that Nathalie was left breathless and speechless. And the rest was history.......

We had a trip planned to Puerto Rico for Nathalie's abuela's 90th birthday. Cesar had told Nathalie's mom that he had planned to propose to her during this trip and wanted to do it on the beach. So my mom, being her crafty self, made decorations that would make the proposal site look like an upscale picnic site. However, leading up to the trip, Cesar kept insisting to Nathalie that she bring a "white dress" on the trip. Nathalie thought that was weird and wondered why he was suddenly taking an interest in what she brought on the trip. (*side note: the jewelry store that Cesar bought the ring from mailed the receipt to the house about a couple of months before this proposal. Nathalie happened to be going through the mail that day and accidentally discovered that envelope but was too in shock to look in it.) Because Nathalie already suspected that Cesar was starting to look for rings she began to become suspicious about this trip. When we arrived to Puerto Rico and were going over the activities for that week, Nathalie noticed that her mother kept stating that Thursday was beach day. That Wednesday was the 90th birthday party so Nathalie tucked that information away as she wanted to concentrate on her abuela's birthday party. Wednesday came and Nathalie's mom presented her with a new dress. Nathalie decided to wear it as it was hot outside. The party started and all the family were enjoying themselves. But then the power went out. Which meant the fans stopped working and the fridge stopped working. The heat became unbearable. Everyone made their way outside to try to get some cool air. We decided this would be a perfect time to get some family pictures. After we took the family pictures, Nathalie was too busy trying to pose those pictures on Instagram to noticed that Cesar was preparing to propose in that moment, as he noticed I suspected something and decided to change his plans. Nathalie's mother gathered everyone to the side yard, where there was a beautiful view of the mountains. As she did that, Cesar got Nathalie attention and began his proposal speech. Nathalie was in shock, as she had suspected the proposal would happen the next day. She honestly blacked out and when he asked the question, she was left speechless. After a couple of seconds, she realized she didn't give her answer and enthusiastically said yes!
