Nathalie and Quinten met in September 2017 at the National Society of Black Engineers' (NSBE) Fall Potluck at the University of Florida (UF). Nathalie heard a newly released song she didn't expect to hear ("Gold" by Brockhampton) and quickly asked who put the song on... only to be directed to Quinten! Although they may disagree on how their initial meeting ended ("I swear he blew me off..."), their mutual love for the same types of music led them to transition from acquaintances to friends. As they grew closer through NSBE Hacktivists, Marston Library study sessions, and GroupMe messages, they discovered many other things they had in common - including their shared birthdays (Quinten is one year older!) The two officially started dating on April 20th, 2018, and physically separated almost instantly - Nathalie to Seattle and Quinten to Portland for summer internships - but made it a point to FaceTime nearly every day. This distance early on in their relationship prepared them for later long-distance. Summer of 2019, Nathalie spent her summer in Boston while Quinten was in Seattle, and the two only saw each other twice from April 2020 to April 2021 as Nathalie moved back to South Florida to prepare for her September move to Seattle and Quinten finished his degree at UF. Since 2021, the two have been basically inseparable in Seattle (outside of Nathalie's trips to Alaska and Quinten's trips to Los Angeles). You can find them walking around art galleries, hitting up local shows, and trying to out-cook each other at home (don't ask who's winning.)
