Maid of Honor
Sarah is Shanna's best friend. They met each other in high school and their friendship grew very quickly when we figured out how equally weird they were. They have many memories together, and occasionally pee their pants from laughing too hard when reliving those memories. Aside from being a goof ball, she is also a track star. Ask her about the "deer story", you won't regret it. Sarah has been a "third wheel" to Nate and Shanna for years. We love Sarah and hope she doesn't weird you out too much. Sarah's favorite memory: It was hard to pick just one, but one that always makes me laugh is when we decided to go mountain biking with the guys on an expert trail without working bikes. Long story short, we ended our adventure with some cuts and scrapes...on Shan's ankle specifically.
Best Man
Ryan (aka Stank) and Nate have been best friends since elementary school. They’ve played and watched many sports together, took the same classes, and were roommates in college. It's not a surprise that these two share many of the same memories. They still watch the final four game against Kentucky every March to relive the experience in the student section. Not only is he Nate's best friend, but he's a great friend of Shanna's too. Let him grab your ear for a minute and you might learn something new about Nate & Shanna. Ryan's favorite memory: Playing mini-baseball in the basement with Nate and friends
Bridesmaid
Carley is Shanna's first cousin (their dad's are brothers.) The two are only one year apart, and she has always been like a sister to Shanna. Carley grew up on the other side of hill in their neighborhood, and Shanna used to meet her on the top of the hill to play for the day. Carley has a lot of embarrassing stories about Shanna when she was younger. Ask to hear some of them at the wedding! Carley's favorite memory: I've always loved growing up with Shanna from all the trips to the cottage, "chicks" nights, high school volleyball and endless Dairy Queen/Kwik Trip visits - even the ones at 10 pm. I feel so lucky to be included on Nate and Shanna's special day!
Groomsman
Caleb (aka Boz) is Nate and Shanna’s good friend & roommate. He played baseball with Nate in high school, and could throw a toilet paper roll a quarter mile high. He lived with Nate and Shanna for a few months before returning to his minor league team. He'll definitely miss Shanna’s lemon cookies, a recipe she got from her Grandma Bev. Caleb's favorite memory: Rescuing Nate & Shanna at 2 a.m. when Nate's car wouldn't start
Bridesmaid
Meredith is Shanna's cousin and very close friend. The two used to look a lot alike when they were younger so our families use to call us "Chocolate and Vanilla." (Because Shanna is a brunette and Meredith is a blonde.) They were inseparable growing up, and went on to graduate from Madison the same semester. Meredith's favorite memory: Growing up, Shanna was always like my twin. While there are too many favorite memories to count, some of my favorites took place at our grandparents cottage. We learned to french braid our hair from our cool older cousins, swam like fish, took the paddle boat out too far, explored the abandoned A-frame that gave me nightmares for years, and stayed up talking and giggling late into the night. These will always be some of my most memorable moments with you!
Groomsman
Charlie (aka the anchor) and Nate became great friends when he moved to Wisconsin from Colorado in 6th grade, despite his love for Boston sports teams. In high school, the two often pulled all-nighters, filled with Xbox and mischief. Charlie also lived with Nate for a year at Madison, but had to move out when he realized he couldn't beat Nate in FIFA anymore. Charlie's favorite memory:
Bridesmaid
Kendra (aka Kenj) is one of Shanna's first friends growing up. Kendra has always been a happy go lucky kind of person and can make you laugh in any kind of situation. Nate and Shanna will never forget Kendra doing cart wheels at the cabin with glow sticks all over her arms and legs! Kendra's favorite memory: We were on the way to Sarah's track meet when I asked Shanna when she thinks she'd get engaged and she thought maybe in a couple years and it was MONTHS later when then engagement happened and I just remember calling Shanna to hear the details and thinking back to that moment. It's amazing to think how special that is when things are such a surprise.
Groomsman
Jake (aka Seep) and Nate share a lot of common interests (e.g. hunting, fishing, and Busch Light). Jake lived with Nate at Madison in the historic "Dirty 30" house near Camp Randall. You would find them at the Shell, shooting hoops while planning the next Dirty 30 party, or shooting zombies while blasting "I need a hero" by Bonnie Tyler on repeat. Jake's favorite memory: The first game day at the Dirty 30. Well, pretty much the whole time at the Dirty 30. Can't beat those memories.
Bridesmaid
Kailey (aka "KK") is one of Shanna's childhood friends. They met when Shanna started school at St. Mary's in 2nd grade. They played basketball, softball and even took dance classes together. Shanna and Kailey both attended UW- Oshkosh. Kailey is always the life of the party and has the best sense of humor. You will for sure see Kailey on the dance floor, make sure to ask to see her Jazz moves! Kailey's favorite memory: It's so hard to choose just one memory, between all of our basketball tournaments and nerf gun wars. But one stands out, we used to bike together before we had our licenses around Stephenville and shortly after we started our moped gang. Many more great memories to come!
Groomsman
Dallas (aka Dal) has been life-long friend of Nate & Shanna's. He can take credit for pairing the two together, and takes pride in having the most third-wheel experiences with Nate & Shanna. Dallas and Nate played baseball together in high school, and on the Hortonville Stars. Dallas travels a lot, but he always brings the gang back together when he comes home. Dallas's favorite memory: Not just one, but many revolving around baseball. Starting with little league and mini baseball in the basement, evolving into high school varsity and whiffle ball in the backyard, and now slow pitch softball and beer ball up north.
Bridesmaid
Betsy is Nate's oldest sister. She was so excited to have a little brother, just so she could have someone to give a tickle-torture. Nate is ticklish to this day because of it. She was always there for Nate when he needed career advice in college, and also shares the same Badger pride. Shanna and Nate face-time Betsy, her husband Eliot, and their little one Mackenzie, and love when they come home to visit! Betsy's thoughts: I'm really excited for Shanna to officially join our family! I can't imagine our lives without her in them. Nate sure is lucky!
Groomsman
Joe is Shanna's big brother, and a BIG brother he is. Shanna put up with a lot of tickling, punching, and armpit smelling in her childhood, but it was worth it in the end. Shanna can always turn to Joe when she needs someone to talk to. Joe and Nate played basketball and baseball together in high school, and they renew their rivalry every December at the Hortonville alumni tourney.
Bridesmaid
Jacqueline is Nate's older sister, and is best described as energetic, bubbly, and creative, supported by the name she wants to be called by her niece (Antie Wacky). Nate's creativity comes from Jacqueline, and she always had something fun in store for him when he was little (mini golfing!). Shanna & Nate love hanging out with Jacqueline, her boyfriend Adam, and their kids, Hayden, Liv, Quinn, and Jace. Jacqueline's favorite memory: My favorite memories with Nate would be watching him kick butt while I scream, "than's my brother!" at all his baseball games, and making volcanoes with the hose in the sandbox. Also, i taught him the Macarena, an important skill to have that he probably used to lure Shanna into his lair.
Groomsman
Jake is Shanna's younger brother, but much taller and much more athletic. They use to be on the same t-ball team when they were younger, while Jake was the youngest on the team he was making plays at short stop and Shanna was drawing pictures in the sand in the outfield. (Not much has changed.) Jake recently just finished up his senior year at UW- Milwaukee and was a pitcher for the Panthers. Nate and Jake love to play pick up games of basketball and game cube at the Sommers' household whenever they get the chance.
Usher
Chris (aka Critz) and Nate have known each other for a long time, but became really good friends when they lived together after college. Shanna & Nate hang out with Chris and his fiance, Katie, pretty much all the time, whether it be trips up north or to the bowling ally. Chris also taught (or tried to teach) Nate & Shanna how to swing dance, so if you are looking for a lesson, you can find him on the dance floor. Chris's favorite memory: Winning the Gobbler Games with Nate
Usher
Ryan (aka Clyde Frog) and Nate have been friends from a long time, beginning with the good ol' Greenville All-stars. They took many of the same classes together in high school, and were roommates for Nate's last semester in Madison. Clyde is known for having a "thinkin' brandy" before he begins a late night of studying, but Nate could still convince him to go to Hawks for a long-island. Clyde's favorite memory: Getting chased away from Kramer's house after trying to TP him during half time of a high-school football game.
