Our story began in 2011 at Hortonville high school. Nate was a junior and Shanna was a sophomore. They had mutual friends that brought them together and soon after were inseparable. These high school sweet hearts have been together for more than 8 years. They are beyond excited to finally tie the knot in front of all their family and friends!
It was early May, Shanna’s favorite time of year. It must be the fresh spring air, the sweet songs of the birds, or maybe, just maybe, it has something to do with opening weekend of fishing. Whatever it was, she was about to have a new reason to love the month of May. Nate and Shanna hopped in the canoe and paddled to their favorite place in the world, Lake Tamarack. Nate had his heart set on catching a keeper today. His lure of choice? A diamond ring tucked away in his sweatshorts pocket and tied to the end of a spare pole. Nate always unhooks Shanna’s fish, so the plan was to propose with the ring in the bass’s mouth once Shanna caught one. The only problem was Shanna couldn’t catch one. In fact, Nate couldn’t either. The lovebirds fished for four hours, circling the lake twice, before Shanna suggested trying it another time. But for Nate, this was the time. It had to be the time! So he convinced her to try one more spot. Another fish-less 20 minutes went by, and it was time for plan B. Nate asked Shanna if she wanted to try the spare pole. She agreed and passed her pole back to Nate. Nate pulled out the ring still tied to the spare pole, got down on two knees and said a quick prayer that the canoe wouldn’t flip. Shanna spun around and jumped into Nate’s arms when she realized Nate was proposing. The peaceful lake was filled with screaming, laughing and tears of joy. Tamarack will forever be our favorite place to fish.
