Nate and Mandie met on Hinge, "the app that is meant to be deleted". After countless attempts to go on a date (interrupted by Nate getting Covid and Mandie traveling to and from her many bachelorette duties) they were finally able to meet. Their first "date" wasn't a traditional date per say. In fact, it consisted of watching a documentary on commercial fishing and eating Popeyes biscuits, but it was the start of something special. Nate and Mandie continued to pursue each other and finally went on a proper date. Ironically, it was to get Sushi. The rest is history.

Nate and Mandie have been planning surprise dates for each other for quite some time. Each month, they plan one surprise date out of the house and one at-home date and alternate who plans which. Since they were going to be traveling in Europe for half of the month of March, they agreed to plan a surprise DAY in Malaga, Spain, where they spent a week before heading to Portugal with family. Mandie planned the first half of the day which entailed getting coffee (Nate approved coffee of course), a walk by the beach with said coffee, roaming around the open-air food market, a tour of the Malaga Cathedral, and tapas outside of the Cathedral. Nate planned the second half of the day, starting with bringing Mandie to Jardín Botánico - Histórico La Concepción. Little did Mandie know that this would be the biggest surprise of the day. He brought her all around the gardens, looking at every plant, flower, and greenhouse imaginable until they ended up at a gazebo surrounded by trees and a beautiful pond, overlooking Malaga. Nate asked a bystander to take a photo of the two and then proceeded to get down on one knee. She obviously said yes!
