Everyone is familiar with the old fashion, “we met at a bar” storyline but that is exactly how Nate & I met. We both happened to be at the same bar in Downtown Richmond when his friend approached me asking if I had met his friend, Nate...thanks Braxton. Knowing that I did in fact not know his friend, Braxton made sure to introduce us. Maybe it was because we happened to be the two tallest people in the bar or maybe he just knew we both loved a good rum & diet coke, but whatever it was, the rest was history. After our first initial meeting, we had our first date at the always delicious, Sticky Rice sushi bar. We still don't know if it was the Elvis impersonator there that night or the company we shared but it was an unforgettable first date. Like any other couple, our relationship has had its share of ups and downs and we have sure faced a fair share of obstacles. From living together to dating long distance, to moving away from home together. We have always promised to be the best team we can possibly be and always be each other's biggest cheerleaders.
Charleston's Southern Charm didn't have a thing on Nate on the day of our big proposal. During a planned weekend getaway to my favorite place in the country - Charleston, SC - Nate had bigger plans than just relaxing and hitting our go-to spots. Knowing how nosey I am, Nate made sure to cover every single track that I could possibly pick up on and boy did he do good! Little did I know, Nate arrived in Charleston a whole day before me and set up an extensive scavenger hunt to all my favorite places in Charleston. The day started with a trip to my favorite coffee shop which lead to beautiful plantations, rainbowed rows, delicious foodie spots and ended at a beautiful live oak park in the heart of the city. Everyone asks how I didn't catch on after a while, well, like I said, Nate was good to cover his bases. The whole day his clues were leading me to believe that I was getting a puppy at the end of the day - so a ring was the last thing I was expecting! With our families hiding behind trees and a hidden photographer in the bushes, Nate popped the question under a beautiful Spanish moss-filled tree. And let me say, the ring was MUCH better than a puppy!! ;)
