There are many different beaches and access points around the lake, but we have chosen a few on the east side (about 45–60 minutes from Reno). Please note that beaches with easier access can get busy quickly and may require a parking fee. Incline Beach / Ski Beach: $12 per adult, per day Sand Harbor State Park: $10 per vehicle Chimney Beach: Two parking lots to choose from, followed by approximately a 1-mile hike in on relatively steep terrain Whale Beach: Free access, roadside parking, and about a 1.5-mile hike in (our favorite!)
If you're staying in Reno and the outdoors isn’t really your thing, we highly recommend checking out Midtown. It’s close to our home and full of great coffee shops, restaurants, bars, thrift stores, and breweries. A few of our favorites: Coffee: Midnight Coffee Roasters Coffeebar Roastery Bibo Coffee Co. Food & Drinks: Pinyon Bottle Co. – casual beers and food Craft Wine and Beer – patio and beer Amari –great cocktails Centro Bar and Kitchen – cocktails and delicious tapas Arario – delicious Korean fusion Indian Kebab and Curry – our go-to for takeout and date night Royce Burger Bar- cocktails and delicious burgers
The Church's Pond via the Jones-White Creek Trail is a 6.5 mile out and back hike. The trail's high point is Church's Pond, a tranquil basin filled with melted snow beneath Mount Rose.
