What about parking?

For your convenience, there is an entire parking lot directly across the street from 820 W Waldo Ave. The lot belongs to Center Place Restoration School and they were kind enough to let everyone park there for the evening.

What is the Cookie Competition?

Answer

Instead of providing a giant, uni-flavored cake, we thought it would be more fun to have a variety of cookies for everyone. While we were at it, we knew people would have more fun with a little competition involved (yes, a trophy will be awarded). Anyone can participate, and they just need to mark "Attending" under the Cookie Competition section of the RSVP. Details will be provided once you do so, but essentially a participant would need to provide between 2-4 dozen of any type of HOMEMADE cookies. There are no limitations: chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, red velvet, snicker doodle, no-bake, et al. Good luck!!!

Whose house is at 820 W Waldo Ave?

Answer

820 W Waldo was purchased by my (Nate) grandparents back in 1951. The large house was necessary for raising my Mom and her 7 other siblings. She has fond memories of Independence, and even tells stories of heading to school each morning and seeing Harry Truman out for a morning walk, enjoying his post-presidency life. I've spent countless holidays here, and my large extended family still gathers for dinners here on a regular basis. My grandma, Lorraine Buckley, passed away shortly after Nichelle and I were engaged. But we did have the opportunity to get her blessing to have the wedding in her back yard when she said, "Of course, whatever makes you happy!" We were delighted to hear that Bob and Kim Buckley, my aunt and uncle, were purchasing the house and keeping the estate in the family. They've put in an incredible amount of work and the house/yard has truly transformed. We're excited to share the evening there with you!
