How can I get around the city?

Answer

Our favorite way, is using Uber. Uber typically ends up coming out cheaper than taxi and you don't have to carry around $$$. The average uber ride is around $2. Another way is taxi, but you have to pay in pesos.

What is the currency?

Answer

They use Colombian pesos. To put it into perspective, $1 USD= 3,800 Colombian Pesos (of course this fluctuates on the day).

Do I need to carry around cash?

Answer

About 98% of places take card. The places that typically don't are the little stands on the street. If you have a credit/debit card that doesn't charge international fees, we recommend using that. You typically get a better exchange rate when doing that. If you don't, it would probably be best to exchange some $$$ before coming.

Is it safe?

Of course! But obviously don't be ignorant. There is a Colombian saying that goes- " No dar papaya"... meaning don't make yourself an easy target. Pay attention to your surroundings, keep all your flashy stuff at home... just don't bring attention to yourself and you'll be good.
