Maid of Honor
Let's travel back to 1997 where Kristin and I officially became friends. It was in 4th grade & we were both recognized for getting the highest scores for FCAT writing. If you had asked me then what kind of friend Kristin would be, I know I wouldn't have been able to say how amazing she truly is. 22 years later, I can tell you Kristin is the kind of friend that everyone wants to have. She is pure. She is love. She is tough. She is funny. She is original. She is home. I don't know what I would have done without her growing up. She made my childhood as good as it gets! I share millions of memories with her, almost always including laughing! We have music videos to prove it! I thank God for Kristin & it is with honor for me to call her my maid of honor!
Best Man
Mell, as I call him is my middle brother and the most mild mannered of the 3. Growing up I always looked up to him. I guess you could say it was because of his savvy style but it was all in the details. Basketball & school was always in the forefront for him in which he constantly instilled in me. He's meticulous in everything he does. Jamel was the first out of the three us to graduate college. In doing so, he set the bar pretty high for all of us. I admire my brother for going through triumphs and trials and still beating the odds! A best man is an inspirational person that motivates you to always achieve your goals no matter the circumstances. A best man makes you a better man. Mell is that person and more! He has a quiet demeanor with a big heart. He's simply, the best.
Bridesmaid
It's true when they say your cousins are your first best friends. Samantha's version is slightly different than mine, as I was a bossy little thing. As children, we never really saw eye to eye but as we got older we reconnected in high school & haven't looked back since! She is true through & through. There is no one who will have my back more than Sam. I would like to say I have an upper hand in that statement because I'm her cousin but that is just who Sam is. She is loyal, honest, & genuine. There is no one like her. No matter the distance or time, we always pick up right where we left off. We share a passion for beach days, good wine, a great time & cold beer. Although I am becoming a Hines, I will forever be an Oliver, so beware, us Oliver girls are double trouble & double the fun!!
Groomsman
Johnny is my oldest brother but we are practically twins. We are both Geminis which means we have the same sense of humor & share common interests. Johnny was always the athlete of the family. His list of achievements are endless. From being a track star in high school to becoming a NYPD sergeant, he has proven the fact that there is no limit for life achievements. Johnny inspires me to step out of my comfort zone and go after something I want whether its a degree or getting in the boxing ring! Johnny is not just my brother; he is a man I mimic my life after. He has taught me what its like to be a father and a family man. His wealth of knowledge is untold & he is a true example for the community and for those who know him.
Bridesmaid
Jessica is my cousin by marriage but blood couldn't make us any closer!! I have never met a more upbeat person than Jess! She is the one to get the party going and jumps in to help wherever needed! She is strong willed and always there when she is needed the most. I don't think Jessica knows a stranger and that matches up perfectly to her personality - bubbly, cool, and fun! Over the past 5 years, we have created a bond and shared a friendship to last for a lifetime! What I love about Jessica is her fierceness and vivacity! She has a wicked sense of humor, in which we share! She is a go getter and I love her for that. If you want someone to be honest and upfront with you, its her! She will welcome you with open arms and give you the shirt off her back. Cheers to standing by my side!
Groomsman
Cody...Cody...Cody - where do I begin?! "Mr. Personality" as I call him can make any dull moment a positive one. I met Cody back in 2011 as my customer service leader. At first, he was always a pain making me do stuff I never wanted to do. What I didn't know then was that Cody saw potential in me. He always pushed me to do better. Stubborn as I was I never realized that he had his best interest in me. Cody then became friends with his new BFF, my fiance Natasha. You might know her too ;) It was safe to say after that, I was lost & forgotten about. Even after being left in the dust, there's one thing that has stayed true through and through with Cody and that is he a friend for life! He's always been in my corner & never fails to make my laugh.
Bridesmaid
I met Tiffany at Publix back in 2008. I was at a new store and knew no one. Tiffany looked like someone I wanted to be friends with but I didn't know how to approach her about it without giving out stalker vibes (haha). During one of our shifts together, we were blocking the aisles and started talking about boys - go figure. We both said, at the same time, who we thought was cute. Ironically or not so ironic, it was the same guy. That was the beginning of what I have come to know as not only a beautiful friendship but I've had the honor of knowing such a phenomenal & selfless human being who I am proud to call my best friend & sister. We have so many amazing memories together from when we were young, wild, & free to becoming mothers and growing into women!
Groomsman
Greg aka G-Money is a former colleague who has grown to be one of my best friends. Greg and I use to run our department working long & crazy hours. He has helped me to achieve certain goals & win awards that allowed me to grow and eventually lead me to where I am now. Greg's ambition always allows him to seek for better and never settle for anything less than the best. He's the first one to help & last one to leave. His hustler mentality is definitely contagious. It's always good conversation with some good whiskey. Ideas are tossed around on ways to having a better means of life. Bearing a nerd like sense of humor, he is funny & spontaneous. His perception on life has allowed me to view it with value. Although he may be meek & mild tempered, there's a reason we call him G-Money!
Matron of Honor
I met Stephanie our sophomore year in high school. We were both in the magnet program & clicked instantly. I was immediately drawn to her bubbly personality! We had many classes together where we spent time decorating our binders with photos and music lyrics from Alanis Morissette's song: Ironic. That has since become our theme song. Oh, & Britney Spear's Toxic! Stephanie has always been a light in my life. She is the definition of loyalty & friendship. I share many memories with Stephanie from homework sessions to clubbing & house parties to her being the god mother to Kalell. Oh, remember that time we were on a hip hop dance team?! Stephanie embodies grace. She is humble & kind. I know none of us are perfect but if I had to pick one person who comes the closest, it would be her.
Man of Honor
Kalell is our son and we are so proud of him!!! Our special day wouldn't be the same without having our little man stand next to his father as he marries his mama!
