We met back in 2007 while working at Publix. We instantly became friends due to the group of friends we had in common. However, there was always something more between us. Over a year of going to house parties together, dancing all night at the local college bars, exchanging CDs, hanging out in our cars talking for hours, working together, and creating memories that outlived the blurry club days - we fell in love. No, it wasn't love at first sight but we were and still are best friends; unless we are playing air hockey! We found out about each other's love for the Lakers and Kobe Bryant, it was game over (no pun intended). We always flirted with each other and the idea of going out but never entertained it. However, in February of 2008, we agreed that if we didn't have dates for Valentine's Day, we would be each other's date. Can you guess what happened next? Our first date was at TGIFriday's. Fast forward three years later, we moved in together. No one said it would be easy but we did make it fun! Let's just say we were known for our parties! From there we moved on to a different place where two years later we would become a family of 3. Kalell was born - a day that changed our lives forever! Becoming parents together has been an extraordinary experience. Every day is a challenge and a blessing that we have learned to never take for granted. In 2016, we faced one of our worst years. Life has a way of tearing you apart to bring you closer together. For the past three years, we have endured some hard times but we have also grown closer through our deepening relationship with God. We have seen each other at our worst and best times. There is no one better suited for me. God is the new foundation of our love but our strength has always been in our friendship. We have grown up together & as Frank Sinatra once said, "May you live to be 100 & may the last voice you hear be mine." 1 Corinthians 13:13
I knew Jerrell was up to something when he told me that a friend of his, who is in photography, wanted to take our pictures for some calendar project. I know, he's not the greatest at thinking on his feet ;) Anyways, the day comes and I still don't know where we are going. We pull up to Disney's Contemporary Resort. Now, we LOVE Disney. Like, we are Disney people and we had in fact dined at Contemporary many times. He tells me we are going to California Grill - one of our favorites! We end up on the terrace that overlooks Magic Kingdom where are "photo shoot" is. After many different poses and shots, the photographer starts taking individual photos of me. My back is to Jerrell and when I finally turn around, he is down on one knee. Although I knew what he was planning to do - I was still overjoyed with surprise. Jerrell went above and beyond in his thought process to make that day very special and meaningful to not only me, but for us. I can't recall everything he said but I do know I couldn't stop laughing. I couldn't believe it was actually happening! Of course, I said YES & now it's onto happily ever HINES......
