Question

Why did you choose Haliburton to host your wedding?

Answer

We just love any excuse to escape North for a little weekend adventure! When it came to planning a wedding that really felt like "us," we thought why not combine the things we love with the people we love? Haliburton gives us the perfect mix: nature, relaxation, and plenty of room to make memories together. We can’t wait for you to experience it all and see why The Haliburton Post House is the perfect escape for the perfect day celebrating our love!

Question

How far of a drive is The Haliburton Post House?

Answer

Travel times will vary depending on where you’re coming from, but here’s a general idea from different areas: From Kincardine → about 4.5 hours From St. Marys → about 4.5 to 5 hours From London → about 4.5 to 5 hours From Tilsonburg → about 4 hours From Chatham → about 6 hours From Stoney Point → about 6.5 hours The venue is located in Minden, Ontario (just outside Haliburton), so no matter which route you take, you’ll get to enjoy a scenic drive through cottage country. We recommend taking the back roads, and avoiding major highways like the 401, to help steer clear of heavy traffic and make the drive more enjoyable. If you’d like help planning your specific route, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Ryan & Natalie; we’re happy to guide you!

Question

Why are guests encouraged to arrive Friday?

Answer

As many guests will be travelling a longer distance to celebrate with us, we recognize that travel can be tiring and that Saturday traffic heading into Haliburton can be unpredictable. Having visited the venue several times ourselves, we strongly encourage a Friday arrival, even later in the evening, to help ensure everyone arrives comfortably, settles in, and can enjoy a relaxed, stress-free morning before our 2:30 PM ceremony. We’re hoping everyone can fully enjoy the wedding weekend experience together.

Question

What time is check in at The Haliburton Post House?

Answer

Check-in on Friday September 11, 2026 is 3:00pm. Check-in on Saturday September 12, 2026 is 11:00am. If travelling to the venue on Saturday, we kindly ask guests to plan their arrival at the venue before 1:00 PM. This will give you plenty of time to check in (starting at 11:00 AM), settle into your room, explore the grounds and get ready for the event without feeling rushed. You’re welcome to settle into your room, explore the beautiful surroundings, and take your time getting ready for the ceremony, which will begin promptly at 2:30 PM. Please aim to be at the ceremony space between 1:45pm-2:15pm.

Question

Why are you requesting an eTransfer to book rooms?

Answer

The venue requires all accommodations to be reserved and paid as one group booking. To simplify the process, we’ll be collecting accommodation payments via eTransfer to n.vallee@hotmail.com and submitting one payment on everyone’s behalf. This also helps guests avoid additional credit card and booking fees charged by the venue.

Question

When do accommodation payments need to be submitted?

Answer

Accommodation payments must be submitted via eTransfer by June 26, 2026. We also kindly ask that guests RSVP and confirm their meal selection by this date, as final guest counts must be provided to the venue by July 1, 2026.

Question

Why have rooms and cabins already been assigned?

Answer

The Haliburton Post House has a limited number of accommodations, including 4 cabins and 5 hotel rooms. To ensure everyone is comfortably accommodated, we thoughtfully coordinated room assignments based on family groupings, room sizes, and guest needs.

Question

Can we choose our own room or cabin?

Answer

Accommodations are limited and have been carefully arranged to fit all guests attending the weekend, so we kindly ask that guests remain in their assigned accommodations for the duration of their stay. We’ve thoughtfully grouped guests to ensure everyone is comfortable, and with such a wonderful group of family and friends attending, we’re sure plenty of mingling, laughter, and new friendships will naturally happen throughout the weekend.

Question

How do I RSVP to the Wedding?

Answer

Please RSVP directly through this website. As part of your RSVP, we ask that you: - Confirm your arrival day (Friday or Saturday) - Let us know if you’ll be joining us for Sunday breakfast - Select your meal preferences - Share any dietary restrictions If you have any trouble with the RSVP, please don’t hesitate to reach out to either Ryan or Natalie.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony will begin promptly at 2:30 PM. We kindly ask guests to plan their arrival at the venue before 1:00 PM. Once you’re all set, please make your way to the ceremony site between 1:45 PM–2:15 PM to mingle with friends and family and find your seat. We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Question

Is there parking on site?

Answer

Yes! The Haliburton Post House has a spacious on-site parking lot, so you can park it and forget it. Once you arrive, there’s no need to drive again until it’s time to head home!

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

As much as we would love to include everyone, our venue has limited capacity. We are only able to accommodate guests whose names are listed on the invitation. Please RSVP using the name(s) as written on your invitation/envelope. Thank you for your understanding! We’re so excited to celebrate together!

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

We’re asking guests to dress in cocktail attire with a semi-formal, relaxed vibe. Nothing too stuffy, but still polished enough for a special occasion. That said, once the formal celebrations wind down we will be shifting gears for a cozy bonfire afterparty. Feel free to swap heels for sneakers, ties for hoodies, and anything else that makes you feel relaxed for an evening of drinks, treats, and fireside memories. Ladies: cocktail dresses, dressy sundresses, or jumpsuits. Most importantly, wear something that makes you feel beautiful and comfortable (and kindly skip the white 😉). Gentlemen, pants and a button-down shirt work perfectly. A jacket is optional, and there's no need for a tie unless, it’s your signature look! The ceremony and reception will both be held outdoors on grassy terrain, with lawn games and a bonfire planned for later in the evening so please plan footwear accordingly.

Question

Is it Open Bar?

Answer

Yes! Alcohol for September 12th (the wedding day) will be covered by the bride and groom. Guests are encouraged to bring a few beverages for the Friday evening, should they wish to enjoy drinks while settling in and kicking off the weekend.

Question

Will there be non-alcoholic drink options?

Answer

Absolutely! We’ll have a variety of refreshing non-alcoholic beverages available throughout the celebration to keep everyone happy and hydrated. Whether you prefer sparkling water, juice, or a creative mocktail, there will be plenty of options for all tastes.

Question

Will the events be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Weather permitting, our afternoon ceremony and cocktail celebration will be outdoors by the lake, on the grass, while the formal dinner will take place indoors. The venue has a mix of paved paths, gravel driveways, and grassy spots, so we recommend leaving stilettos and other very thin heels at home and bring shoes that are comfortable for walking and standing. For the outdoor portion, we suggest applying sunscreen and bringing a light layer in case it’s breezy or cooler by the water. Guests will be just steps away from their overnight accommodations, making it easy to grab a jacket or change shoes as needed. Should the weather not cooperate, we will move the event indoors. But cross your fingers, and your toes, the sun is shining and the clouds stay far away!

Question

Can I take photos during the wedding ceremony?

Answer

We’d love for you to capture all the fun throughout the day, but during the ceremony, we kindly ask that you keep phones and cameras tucked away. We’ve hired an exceptional photographer to capture these moments, and having an unplugged ceremony allows them to do so without distractions; ensuring no phones or hands are in the background of these special memories. We can’t wait to share the full gallery with you afterward! Based on our photographer's portfolio, it will be worth the wait! ;)

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Yes, please let us know through your RSVP, on this site. The venue is happy to accommodate any and all dietary restrictions.

Question

What is taking place Sunday?

Answer

You’re welcome to head out whenever you need, but we’d love for you to join us for one final gathering before hitting the road. We’ve reserved breakfast at the venue starting at 9:00 AM on Sunday. Come enjoy a warm meal, some coffee, and a chance to soak in the last moments of a special weekend together. Please ensure you RSVP for this event through this site.

Question

What happens after the ceremony? Is there a cocktail hour?

Answer

Yes, in our own laid-back way! After the ceremony, join us for a relaxed afternoon of drinks, light bites, and lawn games before we head into dinner. It’s a chance to mingle, soak up the scenery, and enjoy a little friendly competition; Cottage Style!

Question

What happens if it rains?

Answer

Our plan is to exchange vows down by the dock, with the lake as our backdrop, while the sun is shining. However, if the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll move the ceremony into the Boathouse. It’s still right on the water, just in a beautiful covered space, so you’ll stay dry while we say “I do.” The rest of the day will be adjusted as needed to make sure everyone is comfortable and covered from the elements, but we promise it will be just as meaningful and special to us because all of our family and friends will be included... rain or shine!

Question

Do you have a Wedding Registry?

Answer

Your presence at our wedding is truly the greatest gift, and we feel so lucky to celebrate with you! After five wonderful years of sharing our lives (and our home!), we’re fortunate to already have everything we need as we begin this next chapter. For those who wish to give, we would be incredibly grateful for a contribution toward our honeymoon. We’re planning an unforgettable adventure, and your support will help us create lasting memories together. Thank you for your love and for being part of our celebration - we can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Question

What do you expect the weather to be like this time of year in Haliburton?

Answer

In September, Haliburton is usually mild and comfortable. Daytime temperatures often range from 15–22°C (60–72°F), while evenings can be cooler, around 8–12°C (46–54°F), especially near the lake. Sunset is typically around 7:30 PM, so you may want a light jacket or layers for the evening outdoor events. A touch of sunscreen is also a good idea for the afternoon celebrations. Guests will be just steps away from their overnight accommodations, making it easy to grab a jacket or change, as needed.

Question

Can I swim or do any activities at The Haliburton Post House?

Answer

Absolutely! The Haliburton Post House offers canoes, kayaks, stand up paddle boards and other fun water options. You can even swim right off the dock or walk in right from the grass. You are welcome to bring a bathing suit and enjoy your time at this beautiful venue!
