Question

What's the best airport for arrivals/departures?

Answer

It's almost always worth a few dollars more to fly directly into CHA, but Knoxville, Nashville, and Atlanta airports are all under two hours and a fairly easy drive to Chattanooga.

Question

What time should we plan to arrive at the wedding?

Answer

The ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. Please plan to arrive between 6:00-6:30 p.m., leaving plenty of time to find parking and walk a few blocks if necessary. Your friendly greeters Hope and Hannah will instruct you from there!

Question

How do we find the venue (The Granfalloon)?

Answer

The venue address is 400 E. Main St., Chattanooga, TN. Look for the small Eiffel Tower along Main Street that marks the entrance to a gravel parking lot. (There's also a 60's London double-decker bus toward the back of the parking lot as a wayfinder!) The Granfalloon is at the right-rear of the parking lot. (You'll see an old remodeled brick factory space that faces Main St. The venue is behind it....the former warehouse space to the factory.)

Question

What's the parking situation?

Answer

Please consider arriving by Uber or Lyft! Using a ride service will help save parking space and yourselves after an evening of imbibing. However, for those who wish to drive, there is limited parking in the gravel lot adjacent to the venue. Additional street parking in the surrounding neighborhood is available. Please carpool as you're able to, and leave plenty of time to potentially circle the block a few times and walk a short distance. (Younger friends, please leave plenty of space open in the lot for our friends who may not be able to walk as far easily!)

Question

So what, exactly , is a "granfalloon?!"

Answer

The term "granfalloon" was coined by Kurt Vonnegut in his 1963 novel Cat's Cradle, and is defined as a "false karass". That is, it is a group of people who affect a shared identity or purpose, but whose mutual association is meaningless...i.e. a granfalloon is a proud and meaningless collection of human beings." While we didn't name the venue, we love that the place we've chosen to marry shares a name with a concept that we find absurdly delightful. We hope you'll all be a proud collection of human beings that find some shared meaning together for a few hours in cheering us on into our life together :)

Question

Anything else guests should know?

Answer

In place of a traditional guest book, we will be asking you to help us write our bucket list! You'll get a card when you arrive where we'll ask you to write an idea for a place, activity, or adventure you think we should do together, and we'll scrapbook all of your ideas into a bucket list for our lifetime together. Please be thinking of your best bucket list idea for us!
