With our loved ones spread across the world (everywhere from Toronto, Montreal, New York, California, and all the way to Australia), we wanted to create a wedding experience that allowed us to spend quality time with those we love. Our favorite memories are from cottage weekends, cabins in the woods, skiing, and camping trips. We wanted to bring that flavour to our wedding party, and when we went to visit Bayview Wildwood Resort we instantly fell in love with it. Looking around the gorgeous lake, woodsy cabins, and surrounding trees our imaginations flooded with all of the laughter and memories that we could create if only we were joined by all of you. Nothing would bring us more joy and happiness than having you all there with us for a weekend in the woods where we can BBQ, canoe, hike, eat, drink, and dance together for one whole magical weekend!
Last February, Allan surprised Nat and took her out to... you guessed it... a cabin in the woods near Tremblant, Quebec with his siblings and some close friends. In addition to his favourite activity (skiing!), that weekend was made extra special when he got down on one knee in a circle of candles and rose petals and asked Nat to marry him. Who knew he was such a romantic (...who are we kidding, we all knew!)? Nat said yes, and the Gershtein and Shulman families felt a rush of joy and hopefulness at a time when that felt all too scarce. Knowing that these two were heading back to NYC for a while, the families decided that a small and intimate ceremony in the backyard with our siblings and grandparents was the exact way to go! And so the two of us got married a mere 17 days after we were engaged, and we've been giddy newlyweds every since! We always knew we wanted to throw a wedding party with all of you as soon as it became safe to do so. You know how it is with love in the time of Corona... the order of events doesn't matter as long as in the end we can hug and kiss, dance and sing, and share our love with each of you (safely!).
We know it's a lot to ask for our friends and family to dedicate a whole weekend to this event, so we're pulling out all of the stops to make it an unforgettable couple of days. The full schedule can be found on the Schedule tab above, but here's the synopsis: Friday arrivals will be greeted with a BBQ by the lake and a roaring campfire (there will be s'mores, of course!). Saturday will be the day to leave your cell phone and work behind, go on a hike or grab a canoe, and spend the day together outdoors. In the early eve we'll convene outside for the wedding ceremony, followed by dinner, drinks, and dancing the night away in Bayview Wildwood Resort's beautiful hall. In the morning on Sunday we'll gather for breakfast to retell the stories we lived the night before, and toast to the dads for Father's Day before heading back home.
