"For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother
and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.
So then, they are no longer two but one flesh.
Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate."
Matthew 19: 5,6
The unity of man & women is one of the most beautiful sacraments of the church. In Christianity, marriage is not a contract between man and woman, it is an individual contract with God to sacrifice for the other daily.
The Coptic ceremony has 3 parts:
1) Exchanging of the rings & adornments of royalty
2) The anointment of Holy Oil which symbolizes spiritual protection for the bride and groom
3)The Crowning of the Bride & Groom as Rulers of their Households
