FAQs

Question

Which Airport should I fly into?

Answer

We recommend flying into either Shannon Airport (SNN) or Dublin Airport (DUB). SNN offers a shorter (2-hour) drive to Killarney, which is great for tired travelers. DUB offers more direct flight options and excellent public transit (train or bus) connections to Killarney.

Question

How long is the drive to Killarney?

Answer

From Shannon (SNN): ~ 2 hours. From Dublin (DUB):~ 3.5-4 hours. We strongly advise budgeting extra time for stops and getting used to driving on the left!

Question

What kind of travel documents do I need?

Answer

A valid passport is required. US citizens do not need a visa for short-term tourist stays in the Republic of Ireland. Please ensure your passport is valid for the duration of your trip.

Question

What currency is used?

Answer

The Republic of Ireland uses the Euro (€). Credit cards (Visa/Mastercard) are widely accepted, but it’s always good to carry some cash for small purchases or rural pubs.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Black Tie Optional/Formal Weather permitting, the ceremony will be held in the Park. Make sure you are mindful of the terrain! You can change into your fancy shoes at the manor for the Drinks Reception.

Question

Will transportation be provided on the wedding day?

Answer

Most guests have chosen to rent a car, so there will not be transportation to/from the ceremony and the manor. Killarney is a quaint town with taxis readily available. The front desk at Cahernane is happy to call one to bring you back to your hotel or into town.

What should I wear besides wedding attire?

Answer

Layering is essential! Pack comfortable items that can be easily added or removed: Outerwear: A high-quality, lightweight waterproof and windproof jacket (with a hood) is the most important item. Layers: Long-sleeve tops, thin sweaters/cardigans, a fleece, and a light scarf Bottoms: Dark jeans or comfortable, sturdy trousers. Footwear: Comfortable, waterproof walking shoes or ankle boots are a must for exploring the National Park.
