Mountain Biking
Midland Hill in Buena Vista or S Mountain outside of Salida. Both have multiple options for all types of riders.
Hiking
SO many options here - if you've always wanted to try hiking a 14er, the entire valley is full of them. Mt. Princeton & Mt. Massive are good options for strong but not necessarily experienced hikers. For more casual options, the bike areas listed above can also double as hiking routes.
Relaxing
Hot springs are a much loved aspect of this area. If you're not planning to join Sunday, Mt. Princeton & Cottonwood Hot Springs offer a variety of vibes and are open to the public 7 days a week.
River Surfing
This is a passion of Xan's! If you're looking to try it out, the river in Buena Vista has a more beginner friendly option. Otherwise head to Salida to watch how the pros get it done! FIBARK is a surf celebration taking place in Salida on the same weekend. The whole downtown plaza will be full of vendors, music, and spectacles all weekend long.
