New to the area, Naomi planned to join as many meetup groups as she could find in an effort to build community. In doing so, she stumbled upon a group that addressed some of the not-so-pleasant parts of her life. Little did Naomi know, Jon was also on a new journey - one that led to building community and support as he navigated a new path in his life. In a group of thousands, Naomi and Jon's paths crossed. They quickly became aware of similar interests and circumstances and started to talk via chat. Two months later, they met in person, shared their first hug (& kiss) and watched one of the most horrible movies that ever came to the cinema. Nevertheless, it was a remarkable evening that sealed their fate. The rest is, as they say, history.
Unbeknownst to Naomi, Jon had envisioned the proposal and had devised a plan. Part of the plan entailed the romantic setting of the evening light by the pool, but when asked to join him outside, Naomi replied, "It's too hot, I don't want to go out". A day or so later, Jon tried again, but it was still "too hot". A few evenings afterwards, Naomi playfully said, "We've been discussing getting married, but you haven't really asked me to marry you yet, so I'm going to cover my eyes and wait as you get the ring". Jon hopped up and went to the closet. Naomi thought he was playing along with her little game and would return with a funny proposal and an imaginary ring. Much to Naomi's surprise, when Jon returned, he did have a ring... just not one Naomi would have expected. Jon grasped her hand, looked deeply into her eyes and said, "I knew you were special after our very first connection. I love your smile, your lovely eyes, the way you give me such great advice – then give me a hard time over some of my choices. You've been my partner, my confidant, and my best friend. Our story has been an adventure of growth, laughter, and incredible love. I want to continue writing the next chapter with you. Will you marry me?" With a joking smile, Naomi nodded and then said, "Yes.” Jon lifted Naomi's hand and slipped a black silicon band onto her ring finger. Naomi looked down and laughed, thinking how much she enjoyed when Jon played along with her silliness. Thing is, Jon was not "playing along" with her, and later clarified that it was the "real deal", and that they were officially engaged. A couple of days later, Naomi and Jon visited the jewelers to select their wedding rings. Fast forward to the present, and you'll find the happy couple making lists and checking them twice as they prepare for the big day... the day in which they will celebrate their love and share the next chapter in their lives with you. That’s all folks… See you on September 30th!
