August 6, 2012 - This was my first day of high school. I was TERRIFIED, to say the least. Our high school was a big one and I knew that I was going to get lost. I do not remember the first period of the day but I do remember the second. The second period was Spanish. I walked into the class and I saw Joshua sitting in the class. I did not know him but his face was friendly. I sat across the room from Josh (in my assigned seat haha) but we kept catching each other's eye. The bell rang and we went to our next class. I kept thinking about this boy with a friendly face. ALL. DAY. The rest of the day went passed and it was time for my last period of the day. I walked in, and there he was, the boy with a friendly face. It was that moment when I know Joshua was going to be someone special to me. I just KNEW that we were going to be great friends. I didn't think that we would date, LIKE EVER. Now here we are, about to get married. This is WILD. The boy with a friendly face is going to be my HUSBAND. wow.
It all started when we were Freshmen in High School. The first day of school, I was in my second period class, Spanish, and thats when I saw Nana across the classroom. I was like "wow she is cute" but I didn't want her to notice me noticing her you know, so I was just playing it cool. So I just thought I was going to have one class with her but then I was sitting in my last class and here Nana came walking in. When I tell you I was so excited on the inside, I wanted to jump for joy, But once again I had to play it cool. Too sum things up, We went through high school being real close, even though she broke up with my like five times. However look at us now, Getting ready to get MARRIED!!! I can't wait.
The best day. I woke up that morning with a text from the leader of an organization I am in asking if I was going to be able to make it that evening and if so, could I lead some worship songs. I was supposed to work that evening but luckily, for me, I got someone to cover my shift. I called Josh and told him that he had to come to Jacksonville and come to the service. (He was already coming to Jacksonville because we were leaving for Nashville the next day. This just made him come a little early.) He came to the service and afterward we decided to get some food. The service was held on campus and the restaurant that we were going to was on the way to my house. We were in separate cars and josh suggested that we go to my house and get in one car. I argued this. That just didn't make sense. I kept insisting that we just go to the restaurant then go home. but finally, I agreed to go home and get in one car. In true brat fashion, I jumped out of the car when we got home and went into the house and started complaining to Aja. Josh came into my house a couple of minutes after I did and when I turned around, he was on his knee. I was so stunned. I could not get any words out. I just shook my head yes and hugged josh for what seemed like forever. I am so happy that I get to call this sweet man my future HUSBAND. I cannot wait to walk down the aisle to him next June.
Well, this was a long time coming. After being together for a while, it was time to take things to the next step. Nana would always talk about getting married and when she was around people, she would always say slick things about not having a ring or throw some shade my way about not having one. Anyway, it was a struggle for me because I didn't know how I was going to do it. I was constantly thinking about it and if my ideas were going to be special. I was asking people for ideas and suggestions. I even asked some of the youth students at church. That's how special I wanted it to be. However one day, Nana had told me that she didn't want it to be big and in front of a lot of people. She just wanted something small and simple and that was when I knew what I was going to do. So on the day of, I was really nervous because I had never done this before. I had everything planned out, but after Nana had told me she wasn't working that day, I immediately panicked because that was apart of the plan. I texted Aja (Her Bestfriend) and was freaking out because I thought everything was ruined. However, she told me that Nana not going to work doesn't change anything so relax. That night Nana was leading worship at her campus group. She wanted to go to the Waffle House after but I wanted to go to her house first so I could propose. She was definitely confused about why I wanted to go to the house but she finally gave in and said ok. And now here we are, finally about to get MARRIED!!!
