We're Getting Married!

DeMarkus and Nakia had unknowingly shared the same spaces a few times before — passing each other without realizing their paths were quietly aligning. But it wasn’t until August of 2021, at an afterparty for his sister’s wedding (who, coincidentally, is also Nakia’s sorority sister), that the two finally met. Nakia noticed DeMarkus during cocktail hour, but it wasn’t until later that night, in the kitchen at the afterparty, that they spoke for the first time. According to her, they had a full conversation. According to him... he doesn't quite remember. (In his defense, it was a wedding afterparty.) Still, something must have stuck. A few days later, DeMarkus asked his sister for Nakia's contact information. At exactly 9:17 AM on August 11, 2021, he sent her a text — and from that moment on, the conversation never stopped. Literally. They’ve talked every single day since. What began as a chance meeting after a celebration of love has turned into a love story of their own — one built on laughter, unexpected connections, and the kind of chemistry that doesn’t always follow a script.
