We're Getting Married!

In a loud local dive bar, two individuals found themselves drawn to one another. Steve, determined and eager, made efforts to catch the attention of the other person. That other person would be his future wife, Allie. ------------------------------- Amidst the chaotic atmosphere of the bar, we eventually ended up side by side, and Allie let me buy her a beer. Very quickly into that first beer, we discovered a sense of ease, like we were the only two people at the very busy bar. When the music inevitably became too loud to hear each other, I convinced her to dance with me. Not an easy feat! We danced until the bar closed, and walked along the water until the sun started to rise. As the night transitioned into dawn, and the sun painted the sky with warm hues, I captured our moment through my camera lens. It was the first of a thousand moments to come. From a crowded bar to a quiet sunrise, it was clear right from the very beginning that this night would be the first of many more. Our meeting was more than lucky; it was a twist of fate that would lead to a lifetime of moments— quiet and crazy— that we choose to spend together.

I suggested to Steve that he should ask me to be his girlfriend directly after one of his best friends weddings. He did, and that went pretty well, I think. Five apartment changes, a worldwide pandemic, a cat we definitely are not obsessed with, a career change, and a little over five years later, Steve suggested that we take a long overdue vacation to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. Two nights after settling in, he suggested that we take a sunset stroll on the beach before dinner. It was very important, he said, that we catch the light of the coming sunset. Like the sunrise we watched together the day we met, it was quiet, beautiful, and felt like it was just for us. In this sunset, he captured a moment between the two of us that marked the start of something new. He asked me to marry him and be his wife. I thought it was his best suggestion yet, so I said yes.
