Lauren and Steve met like all great couples do: on a late summer evening during a light drizzle at a driving range in St. Louis. Before the first date, Lauren was texting her friends hoping Steve would reschedule due to the weather (or at least change the location to someplace inside). Unfortunately for Lauren, Steve had just picked up a new set of custom Callaway irons the day before, and no amount of rain was going to stop him from getting his first cuts in. So after a split bucket of 100 golf balls and the rain having slightly altered Lauren's perfectly done hair and makeup, they went to Tapped in Maplewood for a drink. Since the bar was a "pay as you pour" establishment, the now soaked couple poured their own drinks. Steve filled his up with a Schlafly lager, while Lauren (a cider drinker) filled her glass...halfway. To Steve, this was a major red flag that this beautiful and funny girl did not take well to his commitment to new golf clubs. He believed she wanted to finish her drink and get out of there as soon as possible. Lauren maintains to this day she only did it in case she didn't like it. But, as fate would have it, the two enjoyed a lovely conversation about their work, their families, ice cream, and how much they hate dating. So they decided to get married instead. And on the day Steve proposed, when he re-enacted this first date with a table and two drinks set up in Forest Park, one of them was half full...
