Yes. However, this is New Orleans home of the Hurricane, Grenade and jazz music. We want our guests to embrace every aspect of this trip and cut loose. So the decision is yours to be made.
If your invitation says you can, you can. If it doesn't, you'll have to see that person upon your return.
Although we tend to lean towards formal/glam, we want our friends & family to be comfortable. So bring your best out. Whatever it may be.
