Fredericksburg, Virginia is regarded by many as one of the most historically important locations in Virginia. You can see Ferry Farm, which was the boyhood home of George Washington. The future general and first president of the United States moved to King George County in 1738. His boyhood home remains open to tourists to this day!
For the history buffs, you can visit Chatham Manor! Now controlled by the National Park Service, Chatham manor sits on a hill opposite Fredericksburg on the banks of the Rappahanock River. The house was used as a US headquarters and field hospital during the Battle of Fredericksburg.
For the hikers, you can check out Old Mill Park in Fredericksburg, VA! This park sits on the banks of the Rappahannock River and is the trailhead for the Rappahannock River Heritage Trail.
Where it all began! You can walk around our old stomping grounds at the University of Mary Washington, a short walk from our wedding venue location. From the Old Bell Tower to Jepson Hall, UMW forever remains close to our hearts.
You can visit our nation's capitol while you are in town! We have called DC home for the last 4 years, and we invite you to check out our favorite activities, including walking along the Lincoln Monument reflecting pool (Matt's favorite running route), checking out Farmers Fishers Bakers restaurant at the Georgetown Waterfront (Mariah's favorite brunch spot), hiking through Rock Creek Park, and visiting the many free Smithsonian Museums.
