They met in a hallway in high school, the last week of summer before their senior year. They were preparing classrooms, decorating and organizing, and Isabella was jamming to Rihanna with a friend. Jonathan walked outside the classroom and asked who was playing such awful music. She told him it was her. He said it was the most amazing thing he'd ever heard. The rest is history.
They decided on an impromptu trip to Hawaii before Jonathan started medical school. They chose the week of Isabella's birthday, and traveled to Oahu and Maui, where they hiked and scaled amazing heights, napped on the lapping shores of Lanikai beach, swam in the depths of the Pacific alongside humpback whales, and drove the circumference of the islands in a convertible Mustang and Jeep. Top-down the whole time, of course. One day was unlike the others -- it was too perfect. Jonathan and Isabella were spending their third sunset in Oahu on Makua beach, remote and sacred for its raw beauty. Jonathan told Isabella to look at the sunset as he took pictures of her, to capture the moment forever. When she turned around, he was down on one knee. Jonathan could only think of asking her one thing: spending forever together. "Yes" had never been easier.
After Jonathan's successful application and interview season, he and Isabella decided to pursue the next part of their adventure in Gainesville, FL at the University of Florida College of Medicine. Packing up their life in Miami was no easy task -- they had spent the majority of their lives there, and it was where they met. But Miami was just the very beginning. With their two cats, Alice and Jasper, Jonathan and Isabella are celebrating life's hurdles and successes in their new home among new friends.
