The Minne Ha Ha steamboat, a symbol of Lake George for the past century, is only a short drive from Wiawaka and offers hour-long paddlewheel cruises on the morning of our wedding starting at 10am. Grab a bite to eat and a coffee and one of the nearby shops and jump aboard. See Lake George from the lake itself and wave to us at Wiawaka on your way! Alyssa loved these cruises when she was a child! Rates: Adults $17.00; Seniors 65+ $15.50; Children 4-11 $8.00; Children under 4 FREE
For those of you into hiking, there's an incredible hike minutes from Wiawaka that will give you just enough time to take in an amazing view and workout before the days' festivities! Buck Mountain is a popular hike in the Lake George area for a reason, and is a moderate challenge for adults and children.
As you know, Wiawaka is used seasonally as a Women's Artists Retreat - several historic artists studied and practiced here including Georgia O'Keefe! The grounds have many sightseeing spots for a range of activities. There is a labyrinth, a brand-new large dock over the lake for relaxing, or bring a kayak if you have one (we are not allowed to have power boats attached to the dock - sorry to those that may have one!).
Just on the other side of the lake and a few minutes drive from Wiawaka is the notable Lake George that has a wide variety of coffee cafes, breakfast joints, shopping and sightseeing for your Saturday morning agenda. As this is a holiday weekend, we recommend making a reservation if you'd like a specific restaurant or activity!
