The first time Megan and Michael hung out was at a restaurant for a mutual friend's birthday. It was a large group that took up multiple booths and by the time Michael arrived, the only open seat left was next to Megan. A few weeks later, Michael messaged Megan online. They spent hours chatting with each other over several days before Michael finally asked Megan out to their high school's production of Beauty and the Beast. It was a bit awkward, given they were surrounded by their friends and even teachers, but the night was the first of many special memories they would go on to create.
Michael and Megan took the redeye to Ireland back in November of 2024. In an attempt to thwart off jet lag, the couple planned a first day filled with activities, including a trip to the Museum of Literature in Dublin. Megan was particularly excited about this due to her love of classic novels. She had just finished reading Dracula by Irish author Bram Stoker (which she highly recommends, by the way) and a few years later had read what she considers her literary Mount Everest, Ulysses by Irishman James Joyce. After taking a tour, Megan took her time going back through the exhibits which included first editions of both of those novels and a picture of James Joyce standing in the back garden of that very museum. She noticed that Michael, who normally loves to dawdle in a place like that, was working his way through it rather quickly. He finally managed to get Megan into the back garden where he took a knee and proposed.
