Immediately following the ceremony at the historic Old State Capitol, we invite you to join us for an hour of passed champagne to toast the newly weds. As the hour comes to a close, we'll take to the streets for a lively second line procession, making our way to the reception for food, drinks, and dancing!
This iconic New Orleans tradition, dating back to the late 19th century, is a joyful procession that follows the main event. The term "second line" refers to the group of people who follow behind the main procession, which is usually led by a brass band and the wedding party, creating a vibrant and dynamic celebration. After the ceremony, we'll parade through the streets, led by a lively brass band, to make our way to the reception. Grab a handkerchief and get ready to dance, sing, and let loose with us as we head to the reception!
Our hotel block is with the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center, we encourage all guests who require accommodation to stay here (it is walking distance to all of the activities over the weekend and that's where we will be staying!). Some other hotel options downtown include the WATERMARK Baton Rouge Autograph Collection, Hotel Indigo Baton Rouge Downtown by IHG (accessible to the Hilton Downtown through an underground tunnel!) or the Courtyard Baton Rouge Downtown. If you are interested in staying in a Casino we would recommend L'Auberge Casino & Hotel (20 min drive to the ceremony and reception).
