The most common routes to get to Hyderabad are:
1. Layover in Qatar through Qatar Airlines.
2. Layover in Dubai through Emirates Airlines.

Make sure you have plenty of time during your layover to go through customs (~2-3 hours minimum depending on airport). You could also plan to spend a day at the layover location and make a trip out of it. Please study the VISA requirements carefully and read up on recommended layover time for your selected airport - reddit can be a good source to gauge.
Another important note is to consider the time change. For example, flying out of Chicago at 8pm central time Friday will get you to Hyderabad at 2:30am local time on Sunday. Keep the time change in mind when booking your flights!

VISA
You will need an evisa to enter India. It is a fairly simple process with a small fee. Please reach out if you have any questions but it takes about ~2 weeks (worst case) to get and you can apply for it after buying tickets.
