The pre-wedding event of Haldi is a purification procedure. Turmeric paste is applied to the bride and groom so that we can be blessed and get rid of any negativity. Haldi marks the beginning of the wedding festivities. Don't wear anything expensive as you will be getting turmeric all over! Men: Feel free to wear a yellow shirt with some pants you are okay with staining. Henna Time! Traditionally for the Ladies. Mehndi is a way of wishing the bride good health and prosperity as she makes her journey on to marriage. The henna also has cooling properties that calm any nerves before the big day. Join us for dinner and dancing. Don't be surprised if we send you a choreography to learn. Its time to showcase your talents :) The word Sangeet literally means music, and the event symbolizes the coming together of two families through song, dance, and laughter. This is the main event! Lunch will be served after the wedding ceremony.
We continue to partake in the traditional Telugu wedding. The Jellakara and Mangalsutram ceremonies will mark our marriage as official. We will be doing several of the ceremonies described here: https://www.weddingbazaar.com/blog/telugu-wedding-rituals We start our pooja's and traditional ceremonies at 5am. Guests are not expected to be there at 5am.. the hall will be open for guests to come and go. Our muhurtham is at 9:45am so try to be there 30-45 mins before that as that time marks us as officially married. Lunch to follow!
