Once upon a time, on a Christmas night far far away, the year 2018. Kevin sat at home watching the critically acclaimed Christmas movie “Die Hard” starring action hero Bruce Willis. Roommate Remy interrupted him exclaiming loudly "Come out and meet my hot friend! She’s hot I swear!". Meanwhile in another galaxy, Lexi‘s phone lit up, "From Remy: Come out to Juanita Pub, you'll get to meet my roommate!" Lexi thought this was a slightly odd thing for Remy to suggest, but reluctantly she agreed to go. Kevin put Bruce Willis on pause and tagged along. Once at Juanita Pub, Lexi's first impression of Kevin was questionable at best. Kevin was un-amused by Lexi’s conversation of astrology. Lexi went on with her night, mingling with regulars and friends. Meanwhile Kevin began to assume she had no interest in him since she was off "flirting" with other guys. As the night progressed, the two began to chat again. Kevin and Remy invited Lexi back to their apartment to continue watching Die Hard and at first she declined. But after a mysterious round of Hornitos shots, Lexi’s FOMO (fear of missing out) overcame her. She couldn't resist the incredible opportunity to watch the critically acclaimed Christmas movie “Die Hard” starring action hero Bruce Willis. Back at the apartment, Lexi and Kevin began bonding over their mutual love for Christmas. They talked about their travels and life experiences. Kevin listened to Lexi drag on and on about her recent trip to China (she literally showed him like 1,000 pictures). Days later by another stroke of luck, the two would both be attending a Seahawk’s game with mutual friends. Through the group chat about the game, Kevin covertly obtained Lexi's phone number and texted her on the side, "But seriously, can I take you out for a real date?" To which she replied, "Sure." And as they say, the rest was history.
Over the last seven years together, the two have experienced the highs and lows of life. From moving in together, purchasing their first home, and building their pet family (shout out Val Kitty), to surviving a global pandemic and losing grandparents, as well as, their beloved cat, Phantom. Kevin and Lexi have supported each other through thick and thin. Kevin especially has been the most supportive of Lexi as she quit the restaurant industry (for good this time), and steadily grew within her new career. Together the couple has enjoyed many of the amazing places our world has to offer. They have spent many a weekend at the Lake House in Seven Bays, took trips to Palm Springs to see Kevin's nieces during their spring break. Green Bay for family reunions, Austin for F1 races and even New York City for Christmas. They have especially enjoyed traveling near and far to attend the beautiful weddings of friends and family. In between the big moments, they’ve also perfected the little things: Saturday bagels, Marymoor dog park trips, Celebrity Family Feud, neighborhood walks with Lando, yard work, and learning to cook without setting anything on fire (though there was one close call 😬).
Kevin disguised his proposal as a normal Saturday routine, however this time he had a little surprise up his sleeve. They began at Blazing Bagels for breakfast, then a visit to Marymoor dog park, and after, a drink at Post Dog Park aka Post Doc Brewing. As the two wandered Marymoor with Lando they eventually came to a beautiful open meadow. Here, Lexi would find a ring carefully and discreetly attached to Lando’s collar. In true Golden Retriever fashion, Lando became so excited that he knocked Lexi right over on her butt! What followed was an overwhelming amount of love, ugly crying happy tears, and celebrating with their favorite people—and easily the best day ever (so far). Today, what matters most is the love they share together. No matter how much time passes, they rarely tire of each other. They’re friends, life partners, and each other’s home, and both can’t wait to celebrate with all of you.
Join us on our wedding day as we begin the next segment of our love story. P.S. Yes, Die Hard is a Christmas movie.
