Christina had moved home to Maryland during the pandemic and Dylan decided to take a chance on an internship on Capitol Hill, moving all the way from Nixa, Missouri. After he arrived he stumbled upon the profile of a Marine Scientist, which was his childhood dream career, who was also Church of Christ. He sent her a superlike and she happily swiped right in return, happy to have the opportunity to get to know a man that seemed so sweet and adventurous. After chatting for a month while Christina was vacationing at the beach they set up their first date. Dylan took Christina to the National Harbor, riding the sky wheel, chatting for hours at the river's edge and getting a late night dinner at a local Mexican restaurant. Eight hours later Dylan was dropping Christina back off and sneaking a first kiss in the driveway. They saw each other pretty much every weekend after that, Dylan often driving an hour to pick her up and drop her off. In October 2021 Christina made the difficult decision to accept a job at her alma mater in South Carolina and they began dating long distance. Being apart wasn't easy, but they continued to grow together and to celebrate their one year anniversary Dylan surprised Christina with a trip to Savannah, Georgia. While there Dylan asked if they could go for a walk in Foresyth Park, and to Christina's surprise he got down on one knee in front of Forsyth Fountain.
